    DIY Bungee Cords

Not a fan of S-hooks in this application. In my previous life I took care of a handful of people with S-hooks that got embedded in faces and one time in the eyeball.

Epdm roofing. Any product to convert from class B to class A fire protection

So after talking with a few commercial contractors, what they do is put pea gravel on it. To make it fireproof. So I put down a 60 mil epdm membrane and pea gravel on top. The lower edge of the roof has a “gravel stop” flashing. If we have a big rain storm and I find gravel on the ground, I’ll...

Epdm roofing. Any product to convert from class B to class A fire protection

I have a fairly flat, 1:12 roof 28‘ wide x 20‘, that has leaked. Current leaking roof appears to be an asphalt with granular overlay in 4’ wide strips. I would like to put a continuous membrane roof on such as EPDM roof. Trouble is my area‘s code suggest I should use class A fire protection but...

    Help with capacitor selection.

Wow. I haven’t thought about this project in years as life has got in the way: https://www.practicalmachinist.com/forum/threads/converting-monarch-10ee-motor-generator-3-phase-to-single-phase-steelman-method.274956/page-3 When I started this project in 2013 I realized a vfd was a no go as it...

    1/2 or 3/4 burried conduit

For all those having problems pushing fish tape into 1/2” pvc conduit, it’s much easier if you use a taper reamer on the male portion of couplers to get rid of the edge that catches the fish tape. Anything more than three bends I use my super flexible wire wound tape, such as the Greenlee...

    Self service movers

“Snip” that sounds interesting. Did you need to get some type of license and DOT inspection for the trailer? If so could you tell me the process and costs?

    Self service movers

Old Dominion also appears to offer this service…… but not in California despite being based in San Diego!!! I suspect this has something to do with private contractor vs employee laws in CA.

    Self service movers

The problem is getting a 10,000 pound container with 20,000 pounds of stuff onto and off a semi-trailer at 2 residential locations.

    Self service movers

I am brain picking all the good people here. I am trying to move from Hood River, OR (60 miles east of Portland, OR) to Fallbrook, CA (40 miles north of San Diego) I have about 20,000 pounds of tools/tooling I would like to move and thought I had it figured out with ABF.com, a self service...

    Straightening warped plywood

My plywood warps laying on the ground. Likely first side expanding from absorbing moisture from the ground and the other side shrinking due to the sun. My solution: flip the plywood over and check it again in a few hours. 99% of the time it flattens out.

Zip system sheathing *****, my experience (it can't get wet)

Ah! The Pacific Northwest, land of horizontal and gravity defying rain. I’m fixing a couple of walls on my house due to the constant wind, rain and impossiblity of using composite wood materials that face the wind. Makes me wish I had used concrete blocks.

How to finish / prep this bare concrete?

I would expect the amount of water going down between the wall and slab to be very little. If it concerns you, just trim the foam a little lower and apply Sikaflex caulking to the joint. I recommended a square drain as it’s generally easier to cut a square recess in the concrete with a grinder...

How to finish / prep this bare concrete?

With a disposable snap blade knife you should be able to trim that foam board off flat with the slab. The drain is a bit more of a problem. I would probably get a square drain cover from HD and cut out its shape around the round hole in the concrete with grinder equipped with a cheapo diamond...

    Solar powered mini split?

I need to change my location to Fallbrook, Ca. Hood River is mild except for when it was 116 this past summer! Except of course when it’s raining or blowing or overcast. This spring has been so wet I think even Noah would give up. Wife has decided in retirement we/she wants to live somewhere...

    Solar powered mini split?

Say I have a 6kw solar array converted to 240 volt ac and is not grid-tied. What is the largest mini-spit (such as a Mr. Cool) that could run off this array? I know the compressors can have a transitory inrush current that can be high and wonder if a solar array/inverter even has balls to fire...

Re-slope garage floor, prior epoxy, concrete overlay, porcelain tile

“Tncatadjuster“ mentions use of a scabbler. I had never heard of that tool before. I looked around and found Sun Belt Rentals does rent this as well as the large volume air compressor necessary to run this tool. Anyone have knowledge of how many square feet/hour are typical for this sort of...
