min. posts for posting in forsale section

Is this why I was just blocked from posting on a thread in the "Made in the U.S.A." subforum? 1000 posts? Really? You know (and, as a forum moderator, you should), the average casual forum member activity is around 0.35 posts per day. That means you want them to wait nearly 8 years before...

How do you protect your tool box?!?!?!

I don't worry about scratches so much, but I have a similar Craftsman box and when I moved into this house in '05 I apparently didn't have it secured well enough in the Uhaul. When I lifted the gate, I found the entire box toppled over with drawers open and tools everywhere... Now a few of the...

    Any A/V experts in here?

Thanks for the suggestions, folks. - I checked the speaker wires and they're fine. I have them connected via very durable wire (for car audio competition) and see no fraying, nicks, etc and there is no exposed wire at either end to make contact. The receiver, stand it sits on, and speakers...

    Any A/V experts in here?

Could it be that, maybe, the speaker wires are making contact somewhere and are shorting out? Would that produce a similar result? I haven't moved the speakers or receiver in some time, but I suppose that doesn't completely rule out the possibility...

    HF infrared thermometer deal

I've been thinking about picking one up for my kitchen but was unsure about their accuracy. Do they read surface temperature only, or is there a way to get internal temperature on meat?

    Any A/V experts in here?

I have a receiver in my garage that, when turned on, will play for 2-4 seconds but then cuts out (not off). If I turn the receiver off and back on, it does the same. If I just change the input selection from one to another (say, FM to CD) it doesn't do anything, I have to turn it completely...

New guy looking for sage advice

Sorry, long day... (got electrocuted at work today, which also melted my favorite knife) Here are the pictures:

New guy looking for sage advice

Nothing like a year and a half bump... I've been working on this a little at a time, as I found it (at one point it seemed to get much worse - after buying a shed and moving all lawn equipment to it, I somehow amassed a pile of **** right in the middle of the garage), and finally got the garage...

    Garage apartments

Except that it isn't just my current home that is the problem, but also the land around it. It sits in the middle of a hill: the back yard is a 30 degree incline and the front is a 45 degree decline. The house is situated on the only flat spot so there's no room for any kind of...

    Supplies???

My favorite general "supply" to keep stocked in the garage is probably the blue shop towels.

    Garage apartments

Some valid points from everyone to consider. Thanks, y'all. Resale wasn't something I was planning for, as I was hoping that the next move would be the last move, but I suppose I should at least keep it in mind as I never know for sure... I hate to build a house and have a lot of unused...

    Garage apartments

I guess a good thing for me is that I don't need much attic space. I've spent the last few years 'decluttering' and getting rid of things I thought I needed to hang on to (throughout the entire house), so all I've got left in the attic is Christmas decorations, camping gear, and some small...

    Garage apartments

What are your thoughts on them? I've come to the realization and conclusion that there are too many dislikes about my current house, garage & yard to try and bring it up to my standard of liking (not cost efficient). I think it's in my best interest to just wrap up my outstanding projects and...

    My garage setup

Ahh... Good idea! As I said, I've been wanting to add outlets, but one obstacle is the big fireplace I have in the middle of my back wall, making it difficult to wire around it. The only option that came to mind was going up through the wall, then around the fireplace in the attic, then back...

    My garage setup

Where did you install your additional outlet? On the ceiling, or on a wall? My garage was done the same way. 1 frickin' outlet on the back wall! I've been meaning to rectify that for a while now but things keep coming up and I keep pushing it back or forgetting... But yours is looking good...

Is there a thread for budget builds?

Where are the buildups from guys like me? The meager state employee who has been separated for more than a year, father to a 10 year old daughter that expects all excess funding (Hah!) be routed in her direction, that was able to turn his attached 2-car garage into something desirable and...
