I agree, nothing from sawyer or hb smith looks right. If anything, mine looks more crude and similar to the original chas parker patent. It is still different though. Interesting. This vise appears to be very old.

New to me Vise identification please

Hi. Just bought this vise locally. It is only around 3 3/4 inch jaw. It is in rough shape but it is larger than my others, has a swivel base, and works really smoothly. It should be a great addition to a large bench I have. The only markings are on the side and are: N S C O No 2 I...

I still need to fab that cover but I wire brushed, primed and painted the jack today. The jack functions perfectly so I decided against dismantling it just for paint. It's going to be used and dirty soon anyways. P.S. If anyone can post a picture of what my missing cover looks like I would...

Thanks for the info guys. Hammergodthor you were spot on...i can barley make out a JAX on the top of that plate. I also see 782 and SERIES B. Quick search on this site found this: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=61742 And if Hiball has the cover I would be very interested.

I couldn't resist the price. Unfortunately it is missing that top cover piece, but some sheetmetal will have to do for now. It had an issue with the handle but I already sorted that out. I can't find any cracks or repaired damage. It works fine and just needs a clean up and it is ready for...
