I have spent more time online trying to i.d. this vise. Figured a bump wouldn't hurt my chances...

Here is my newest old vise. I have no idea who made it or when...help identifying it is appreciated. It has roughly 3.75 inch jaws. The only markings are the ones in this side shot

Man of Many Vices, If possible, please post a picture of your vise. I believe this vise has been around the area I live in for a long time.

I agree, nothing from sawyer or hb smith looks right. If anything, mine looks more crude and similar to the original chas parker patent. It is still different though. Interesting. This vise appears to be very old.

Nice! bl00 If meadville and sawyer were one company and not two the side letters appears to be M and S.

Just cleaned up the vise a bit and still no other markings than these on the side...here is better pic...

Only other markings are on the opposite side from the picture....looks like a stamped in APL They almost don't look original though.

Thank you rusty65, is there a place I should look for markings? I looked it over pretty good, but it has a pretty healthy patina.

Used the jack this morning for the first time...I am loving this $20 jack. Looks like this will be my 56 chevy's dedicated jack.

I still need to fab that cover but I wire brushed, primed and painted the jack today. The jack functions perfectly so I decided against dismantling it just for paint. It's going to be used and dirty soon anyways. P.S. If anyone can post a picture of what my missing cover looks like I would...

Hammergodthor, or anyone else that knows, what is the original color for this jack. I see traces of red white and blue.
