Welding threaded rod to SS plate

Thx for the responses. These rod/plate brackets are to support sun shades over the windows on my new house. The shades weigh about 40 lb and will be supported by 4 of these brackets. I guessed at a load of 40 lb per bracket to account for wind load. The bracket screws to sistered studs with 4...

Welding threaded rod to SS plate

I am needing to weld several 1/2” threaded rod pieces(6” long) to 3/16” (3x6”) plates. All stainless using TIG. I tapped the plates and threaded the rod 2/3 of the way leaving a gap at the back to fill with weld. This was easy to weld and seems very strong. My question: is that sufficient...

    Service entrance question

Update and follow up question: So it turns out my utility will allow other conduits in the trench with a 30” separation. As such I plan on having them run the SE to the building and I will install another conduit to get pump power back to the well. I would like to this by running a 240vac...

    Service entrance question

I am hoping to get some guidance on how to approach designing a new 200 amp service. My utility will run the 250’ of SE wire in conduit from electric pole to the building. I have to dig the trench. They place the meter on the building. However, I need electricity quite close to where their...

    Apron materials/pavers

I would like to install an apron on 2 sides of my metal workshop to facilitate moving things like a welding cart etc. ideally I would have done this in concrete when I poured the slab, but couldn’t afford it, so am now looking for cheaper options like pavers or permeable plastic driveway grid...

    New concrete slab sealer

Thanks for the responses. I just found out that my contractor used this product immediately after it was poured. https://www.quikrete.com/productlines/concretesealer.asp Will this preclude using a densifier or other treatment? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    New concrete slab sealer

My only reason for treating it would be to protect my investment by improving longevity. I don’t care about appearance. The floor will not be exposed to salt but I’m sure it will see oil and other fluid spills over time

Metal building with exposed closed cell spray foam

Thanks for all the responses and photos. Here are some bullets from my research: Not all foams are created equal. Installation skill and attention to humidity during application are important I read anecdotal material online about manufactures not warrantying foam installations but the ones I...
