    Paint color for garage

I did a light grey for the top half and a shade darker for the bottom half. Added a green strip to split the two greys. Looks great. I recommend high gloss for the garage. Doesn't attract dust as much and it's easy to clean

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Spent the weekend working on my 2009 Mini Cooper S. Replaced the water pump, water pump pulley wheel, serpentine belt, thermostat (#6) and the timing chain tensioner. Still need to replace the valve cover gasket, but at least the gravel in a box noise is gone.

    powder coating?

Powder coating is similar to paint in that it's all in the prep work. Powder coat can be very durable when the surface is prepared correctly or it'll flake off in 10 minutes just like paint. I would think that purchasing roof panels from a company would be a better option. Whether you choose...

Powder coating chamber in garage? Concrete concern?

I've built a 3x3x7'tall oven and I used a single piece of sheet metal as my floor with the intent of building a rack that I can roll in. When I was building mine I read that the sheet metal floor would help keep heat in and reduce dust. I don't know if there is less dust with concrete or...

    gasoline smell on hot days

You might want to check your motorcycles and make sure they are not leaking. I know you said they weren't, but I've got a 71 Bronco with a carbureted 302 and it's wasn't "leaking" gas, but started to have a slight gas smell. A little small rubber diaphram started leaking when I drove it. It...

    Media Blasting Cabinet Issues

I agree with what others have said, blasting powder coat is painfully slow. I would chemically strip and then blast for profile.

Cool chainsaw spikes. I'd like to learn how to do it myself just to learn, but I will definitely reach out if I get in over my head. My design is fairly simple. How much do your chainsaw spikes cost to get cut out, if you don't mind me asking? Thanks for the tip on Sketchup and 3ds. I'll...

    Best free CAD Software?

Hello, I have an idea for something I'd like to make, but don't have the engineering background or tools to know what would be needed to get it made. I'm looking to design metal part that would later be cut from aluminum sheet metal. I'm not sure of the gauge yet, but approximately 1/8...

    Paying for a name!

Grainger should still sell to an individual that's not associated with a company. I've bought many items there and have no company affiliation.

What have you built from an old bed frame?

My blast cabinet frame is all old bed frame. I've also built shelves and seat mounts

    DIY Sandblast Cabinets

I built mine with angle iron sourced from old bed frames and 1/4'masonite left over from an earlier project. The bottom trough is 3/4 plywood. I was worried about the masonite not holding up and had planned to line the inside with aluminum flashing, but the masonite has held up well for the...

What have you built from an old bed frame?

I've build a frame for blast cabinet, recessed shelf supports and ceiling brackets to hang things (shelves) from, trailer rails. I always seem to be using them for something and someone always has them on craiglist.

    Rust Removers

Vinegar works great. It's cheap and doesn't lose it's strength over time. Soak the item over several days and the rust will literally fall off. I've tried many of the commercial remedies and all of them seem to work for a short while and are quite expensive. David

Settle this paint argument for me....

I recently bought 8 one gallon cans of the "same" color. All bought and mixed at the same time. 5 were flat and three were satin. You could see every roller and brush stroke. You can never be too sure what you have until it hits the wall.
