Vintage Dymo embossing label makers - because the new ones are useless.

Vintage ones still work and they are pretty cheap on ebay. I found a really early one with a cast metal body and a leather carrying case for under $30. Agree probably late 60s or 70s.

Utility cart as a tool cart?

The US General 1 drawer cart is budget friendly, and decent. I have one I use for my cordless tools. I believe they are less than $150 and go on sale often for much less. I think I got mine for $99 a year or two ago. Similar to what Zim started with above.

Interested in 3D Printing - Recommendations and Hype vs. Reality

Good to know. I know someone who is trying to replace a rubber bellows type "sock" that fits over a piece on an old machine. Sounds like TPU may be worth looking into.

Interested in 3D Printing - Recommendations and Hype vs. Reality

I'm just going to mention Prusa. Bambu has taken over the 3d printing market with affordable, easy to use printers and pushed a lot of the one time big players aside. Prusa is made in the Czech republic, so more expensive than many of the other brands which are from China. Prusa was a leader...

His and Hers Tools - Wedding Gift Ideas?

I bought my wife some pink tools and a pink tool bag from Amazon. Not outstanding tools, but not junk. Perfectly adequate for basic home owner stuff like assembling furniture, hanging pictures etc. Pink helps to emphasize the HERS aspect of his and hers tool sets.

What type of shop do you have?

I picked everything shop, but in reality most of the shop space is a storage area for tools. I have to do most work outside in the driveway or carport.

Delta Homecraft 4" Precision Jointer Qn

I have the same jointer. I believe I paid $80 a few years ago. Many people recommend going with a 6 or 8", but I've found it enough for my needs. Not really a case of being light duty, just limited to skinnier material. Homecraft was Delta's lower end brand, but wasn't really lower quality...

Walmart Getting Serious About Tools in 2026?

We didn't get Walmart in California until the 90s and by then they were certainly going for cheap, but I don't think that was always their model.

Walmart Getting Serious About Tools in 2026?

Agree, at this point Walmart is just known for being a cheap one stop shop and that is it.

Walmart Getting Serious About Tools in 2026?

I'm sure that plays a part, but where I live Walmart has locked up half the store. They have underwear and socks locked up. Ace only has a few small (pocketable) high dollar things locked up. The only things at Harbor Freight I've seen with the tags are large items, tool chests and such. There...

Walmart Getting Serious About Tools in 2026?

It seems to be more of a Walmart issue than others though. At Walmart almost all of the electronics are locked up. Go a few spaces over in the shopping center to Staples, and they have many of the same things unsecured on the shelf. I think the main issue is the customer to employee issue...

Walmart Getting Serious About Tools in 2026?

Almost every town in the US has a Walmart available, but I doubt they have much if any interest in taking on the top tool brands. That doesn't fit their model. I expect they are mostly going after the Ace, True Value and Amazon house brands. Hart seems to have been based on Ryobi with an...

Walmart Getting Serious About Tools in 2026?

Yep, I see people comment on the fleeting nature of Harbor Freight brands, but I've not witnessed it happening. Walmart on the other hand adds and drops brands like people change underwear.

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT Breaking out of my self-imposed prison

I resemble this thread. I go back and forth with a space like that. I get busy and stuff basically just get shoved through the door to be dealt with later. By the time later comes I have to spend a lot of that time reorganizing the mess it has become. I envy your open wall space, half of my...

Any harbor freight bauer or hercules cordless tools to stay away from?

I've acquired a fair number of Bauer cordless tools, drills, jig saw, 7-1/4" circular saw, 3-1/2 gallon shop vac. Most are quite good for the price, better than I expected. I'd put most as equal to or in a few cases maybe even better than Ryobi. Yard tools are an exception, Ryobi offers several...

    Sam’s Club -VS- Costco

I've never even been in a Sam's club as there just are not that many in the state. I've been a Costco member for many years, the gas savings alone more than pays the membership. Locally I find it to be $0.30-0.50 / gallon cheaper or 10-15%. I'm only about 2 miles away so about the only time I go...

Shed - Build, buy, or DIY "kit." Any input appreciated

I was considering the same thing a couple years ago. After watching some videos of people building kit sheds, I came to the conclusion that build yourself from plans or pre-built was the best answer. A lot of the people building from kits had to replace a fair bit of unacceptable material and...
