I have the Makita and it cuts great! Like others have mentioned the tracks are much cheaper.

Pad it down and install new trim around entire door. If your general contractor can't figure this out, I would question his abilities. You do not want a non-standard sized door, it will make everything more costly in the future.

I have been framing forever. It takes a lot of practice to shoot seams without blasting out the sides. Hand nail the seams and blast the other studs.
