School me on Step Drill Bits ....

I have a set of Vikings and a set of Milwaukees. Both are great, but I will say the Vikings are excellent in the drill press.

    Tool Auctions in MA?

I’ve seen those too, but I’m not convinced the prices are that great without any warranty.

My drill is on the way out...

I have the 2804 with the Rohm chucks (supposedly - red line, no run out) and am happy with it, but I’m just a home DIY/hobbyist woodworker. I’d send yours back to Milwaukee even if you decide to get the 2804 just to have as a backup.

Looking for some budget outside micrometers

I picked up a used set of Mitutoyos here for a very reasonable price given their condition. I have one of their dial indicators too and it’s top notch. Same for a separate Starret DI.

    Milter saw recommendations

I have the Bosch GCM 12”SD sliding compound miter saw and love it. Solidly built and I like the dual bevel. The DeWalt gets a lot of love for good reason, but don’t discount the Bosch.

The best portable/rechargeable work light isn't a work light?

Great idea - ideal for the corner of my workbench. Thanks!

    Miter saw questions

I bought my Bosch compound miter saw used that was local to me on CL. This was a few years ago. Judging by the pictures in the ad, which showed a substantial dust collection system, various presses and lathes, etc., I felt that I was getting a saw from someone who knew how to use it. When we...

    Sawstop professional 30” demo deal

Congrats! I’m a home hobbyist and have the contractor 36” saw and just built my outfeed table and accessory tables at the same height as the table saw. I would have loved the extra power of the pro saw, but in the end, it really would have been lost on me for the stuff I do. I would’ve like a...

    Craftsman 5162 4" vise

It may be KMScott here, but he recently retired. He may have old stock, but he could probably point you to any number of resources.

Weird - I have Prime and it still tries to charge me. Regardless, good luck!

    Screw driver lengths..

Maybe, depending on the job. My guess is that electricians might use insulated screwdrivers more to protect against shock though.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Very nicely done! I was born in Elyria, so I guess I have to get a Ridge now!

    Shipping Container House

This looks like a cool build - good luck! Also, if you get picked by HGTV/DIY, don’t be a one trick pony!

Are your tools on a mobile base?

Everything I build for my shop is 100% mobile - table saw, compound miter saw, planer, drill press. Everything. With two cars, sports equipment, firewood, and who knows what else, I have to have everything mobile. The stuff that gets used the least is in the corner of the wall, but the other...
