Lets make an all vintage Snap-on tool picture thread!

Any aviation nerds out there? My neighbor just downsized to a condo and let me have everything he wouldn't have space or a need for. Lucky for me, his father was an A&P mechanic for National Airlines in Tampa and I brought home some seriously great tools. I haven't had the chance to get...

Let's see your Skilsaw #77 Worm Drives!

I'll go ahead and revive this thread with a Skilsaw Model 77 I found on marketplace. I bought it because I have the blue label Model 825 and a "underline-C" Craftsman 7" worm drive. I've wanted a blue label Model 77 and now that I have it, I'm excited to service it and use it. The saw runs well...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Changed the two transmission oil cooler lines on my wife's car and changed the oil in my car. Then messed around with a 1940 Craftsman worm drive circular saw and had a bit of an oopsie by cracking the aluminum blade guard trying get it off. Gonna do some damage control tomorrow I guess and go...

    Show your "Long C" Craftsman!

The WD-40 & 0000 steel wool is what I did with my Skilsaw 825 case, and it did very well with preservation of paint and lettering. And good call with the sewing machine machine handles! I'll see about sending Matt Blast a message soon. It really does, I love the aerodynamic cone on the front...

    Show your "Long C" Craftsman!

If you guessed correctly, it is indeed a 1940 7" worm drive saw. UPS dropped it off today, I paid $113 with shipping for it. I'm going to clean it up, repair any issues, and hopefully use it occasionally. It's missing a screw on the back side worm screw panel and one of the plastic brush caps is...

New to GJ, Working on a Mohawk Drill Press

I've only ever dealt with Jacobs chucks, but I'll give this a shot. Based on this picture, I'm thinking that's a roll pin that marries the chuck to the spindle. And the ball bearings are what's used in the sleeve. Hopefully someone with more wisdom can be of more help. Edit- Is that a set screw...

Here's the two clamshells I have, one red and one glossy green. The green one came with all but one of the sockets I have pictured, a wooden handle Spintite and the hinge handle. It also came with Snap-On 1/4 to 3/8 adapter, an extension and u-joint. All 1/4" drive. There is a no-name 11/32...

    Eklind T&M Thread

No need to apologize to me, the history, inner workings and technical advances of a company are an important topic. Let's call it a learning experience. Like a tool-related field trip.

I have found that Por15 degreaser works so much better than simple green. Its also not hazardous. I have no issues scrubbing clean the tools like that even with just a nylon brush with the por15 degreaser in my slop sink. Give it a try if you can. They sell 1qt spray bottles all the way up to...

Finally got around to servicing and cleaning up my two new black ox 3/8" drive 4050 ratchets. I wish I knew when/where each one was made since they both have subtle differences between them. Anyone know how to get the grimy rust colored stuff out of the name stamp? I used heavy duty simple...

    Show your vintage Bridgeport tools!

I bought this 343-8 on eBay for $15, including shipping. The handle is orange/dark amber. Overall length is 12-3/4". I found the 1940 and 1953 catalogs and realized they didn't really change much about the "Rhino" model between that period and the amberlite is definitely more yellow. Anyone have...
