    Who makes good flush cutters?

Facom ~ 30-40 years ago made a whole range of cutters with different blade / jaw material depending on what you were cutting. I felt that was a very professional approach, with metallurgy and jaw design being application specific.

PSA - Actron products and all product support discontinued

I like being able to scan my own vehicles and have insight as to what issues arise. Relying solely on the dealership or an independent shop is increasingly becoming a big gamble, and in my experience, the quality of the mechanics / technicians keeps decreasing.

    Who makes good flush cutters?

The Hakko flush cutters work great and I seem to recall they are ~ $10 US

PSA - Actron products and all product support discontinued

Is the Solus Pro Bi-Directional capable? Does it still use those cartridges and keys? That was the annoyance I have had with the red brick.

PSA - Actron products and all product support discontinued

This is sad but true. I agree. The level of programmed obsolescence that the consumer has allowed to be built into modern products is ridiculous in my opinion. Not to mention the inflated pricing that has gone along with it.

PSA - Actron products and all product support discontinued

I never had an Actron but wanted to buy one because I understand it worked well on German cars. It is interesting that some scan tools work better than others or have increased functionality with only certain vehicle manufacturers. I still have two red bricks and use them, occasionally.

    Tools from the old world

Where did you find the Heyco drivers? I have been after one of the Hazet extendable ratchets for a while and I am glad it has a good review from you. It seems more stout than the Facom equivalent.

    Wera 838 RA-L ratcheting screwdriver

Very well said. I like the stainless Wera blades and laser cut tips. The handles are just okay. I have Torx sets of Wera also. I have a set of Wiha screwdrivers, too. The precision electronics tools I like, but I reach for Vessel first. The Wiha standard “shop” screwdrivers seem to survive on...

PSA - Actron products and all product support discontinued

I agree. The post-COVID era has ushered this in as standard practice. What will be interesting to watch is Right to Repair litigation and if sources for aftermarket support / software / parts will appear when the OEMs decide to discontinue manufacture or service in rapid fashion. To the...

    Wera 838 RA-L ratcheting screwdriver

I have bought several off of Amazon US for under $25 USD. I think one purchase was around $18 USD. IIRC. Look up Vessel TD-6800. There are a few different models offered by Vessel that come with different bits. The top of the line model comes with a red bit magazine with typical Philips and...

    Wera 838 RA-L ratcheting screwdriver

Vessel ratcheting screwdriver with internal bit magazine in the handle is my favorite. The handle is clear plastic. It has the best mechanism and I think it superior to Snap-On. My only gripe is the shaft is a little short in length.

Thoughts on a Ryobi Impact and Compressor for College bound Daughter

I think a lot of this can be avoided with good pre-planning. I’d also keep a charged mobile phone power-bank in the glovebox.

Please check my math on Jack limits

Wheels need to be chocked. The 2 ton jacks are a lot more maneuverable than the 2.5 / 3.0 ton and weigh less, which is an advantage.
