    Jumper cable/Charger clamps

I have a set of jumper cables I got from Sears in ~1993. Have white insulation (now somewhat dirty) and are still flexible, even in cold weather. They must have been made especially for Sears (who liked to be different or exclusive sometimes) in that they are 18 ft. long and 5 gage. Never seen a...

Funny 1 star Amazon tool reviews

I was looking at some older PC computers on ebay and under the features and specifications, the connectivity not only had USB and ethernet but also a "wife adapter".......... Hmmm.

    Irwin 1813817 116-piece tap/die set - $149 after rebate

But the "everyday low price" is $167.42? I've never seen an Irwin set that size for that regular retail price.

    Accurate; reasonably priced optical tach

As said above, don't overthink this. Try a ~$15 cheapie and see if it works for you. Can always get a better one. This video helped make my decision to buy it.

    Accurate; reasonably priced optical tach

Amazon has quite a few at various prices. I have this Uni T UT373. Has a backlight and counting feature. For my limited use I wouldn't spend any more. One thing I did learn (not tach specific) regarding the supplied reflective tape was that beyond the "peel-off" to expose the adhesive, the other...

    Torque wrench storage settings

I've done the same for years. Then I got a digital torque adapter. When checking all of my TW's I was surprised how accurate the old beam wrench was. Just eyeballin' of course but pretty close or dead on the mark.

Husky made in usa wrench set 15 piece for $40

Those Husky wrenches look like late 1990's/ early 2000's vintage and made by Stanley. After they disappeared I was wishing I had bought a set. I really liked the satin finish and IIRC the beams (handles) had a rounded edge instead of less comfortable square corners. I wouldn't even consider any...

I wanted to see what (if anything) abnormal was caught by the filter and check for filter integrity (damage). As mentioned in my post, the details are in my post over in the "Hot Deals Forum--- Amazon Retail ....." . If you're really curious there's a zillion youtube videos of new and used...

    Torque wrench storage settings

This looks like a good place to start. And as far as damage from dropping, check out this video. Some of us treat a clicker as a delicate, precise instrument yet what really is inside to get damaged from a fall to the ground/concrete. We want that last little bit of gnat's *** accuracy while...

Amazon Deals on New Retail Items - Post them!

Maybe try something like this and try loosening when the pan is still hot from hard driving. Amazon and others sell them. ETA -- my mistake, thought you were referring to oil pan bolt. ETA2 --- just noticed I linked the SAE set. There's a metric set also...

Thoughts on a Ryobi Impact and Compressor for College bound Daughter

jump pack can be handy but I'd still recommend jumper cables as a backup or first choice before jump pack.

Thoughts on a Ryobi Impact and Compressor for College bound Daughter

No to a foot pump, yes to a decent 12v plug -in inflator. A good flashlight. A pair of work/mechanics gloves. A little toolbox with basics (tighten battery terminals etc). Hand cleaner a nd a roll of paper towels.

Amazon Deals on New Retail Items - Post them!

Like many others do: to check for metal "sparklies", carbon and grit and check if the filter media hasn't torn loose from the glue or failed in other ways thus allowing unfiltered oil and dirt back into the engine. I'm not planning to go through the full ritual that many youtube reviews do, many...

Amazon Deals on New Retail Items - Post them!

Not today but delivered Saturday from Amazon. Did a recent oil change and decided to cut open my first oil filter. Timely purchase. Discovered media pleat torn loose from glue on end cap adjacent to media crimp seal. Purolator ONE filter of which I've used several over the last few years. Spent...

In need of tap and die set.

Cheaper than the $149.99 Icon sets are the Pittsburgh Titanium Nitride at 89.99. https://www.harborfreight.com/titanium-nitride-coated-alloy-steel-sae-tap-and-die-set-45-piece-61411.html And then there's "Chuckee" who's a welder and did a review.

In need of tap and die set.

Westward is a house brand for Grainger Industrial supply. It's probably not a bad set for the price even if it's made in China. But you'd get metric and SAE in a Harbor freight set for similar money. Never ever want the ~$20 set from HF. Pure garbage. On ebay you may score a deal on a made in...
