What are nut setters for? Never seen or heard of them till today

It's like a combo of a few things. The shallow ones with a magnet in them are handy for lag screws, not much else. Awesome when you have a lot of lag screws to install. The deeper ones are perfect for around the house jobs instead of a socket set: use a drill to assemble furniture, zip a hose...

What tool/Industrial companies companies still make a good calender

I worked in an engineering shop in Italy for a few months. They had several calendars from local Italian industrial supply companies. Each month had the front of a lady, then the next month had the back of the same lady. The calendars didn't feature many tools. 1 out of 5 stars. Would not...

Life-Saver Tools - The Ultimate Thread of Indispensable & Innovative Tools

It's still pretty new to me, but this Klien finger ratchet is ingenious and has been used a lot. It's as small other Micro ratchets but the finger loop makes it much higher torque and able to dangle it in small spots. It comes with a great set of stubby bits and an adapter for 1/4" sockets. It...

Which of these is the better Tekton ratchet?

I was just at Meijer as well and checked one out. Seemed like a decent ratchet EXCEPT for the back drag. It was worse than the Stanley ratchet I'm replacing.

Which of these is the better Tekton ratchet?

Thanks guys. So the 90 tooth ratchets are the "new" style Tekton ratchets people talk about?

Which of these is the better Tekton ratchet?

I'm seeing 2 styles. The butter knife handle has 72 teeth and the round handle has 90 teeth: Should I be looking at getting one over the other?

What would a bare minimum SAE + metric 1/4" socket set contain?

I have bits in my kit, I was just looking to add a few sockets. This is the kit I'm adding the sockets to:

What would a bare minimum SAE + metric 1/4" socket set contain?

That's just it: a basic kit comes with way too many sockets for a portable tool kit. I have duplicates of a few sizes of sockets I've never used. For t this set I only want to carry what I use. This isn't a set for working on a car much, this is for the little stuff...

What would a bare minimum SAE + metric 1/4" socket set contain?

Got 9 of them on an 8" section of 10-24 threaded rod. Made a couple aluminum threaded end pieces and it fits great in my portable tool kit. Thanks guys! I went with: 1/4" 11/32" 3/8" 7/16" 1/2" 8mm 10mm 12mm 13mm

What would a bare minimum SAE + metric 1/4" socket set contain?

Only 1 metric?! I am becoming a huge 1/4" fan as well. The wrenches for so well in a pocket when working around the house and the lightweight tools seem to have a lot better feedback to them.

    Best Phillips 2 Insert Bit

I've been experimenting with bits lately and just got the Makita gold which seem really promising. My best bits by far however have been Bosch standard ribbed bits. I'm still on my original 15 pack from probably 8 years ago:

What would a bare minimum SAE + metric 1/4" socket set contain?

Like many of you, I have hundreds of sockets. Short, long, a few lengths between, SAE, metric, specialty, etc.... As an engineer, DIYer, and personal car wrencher I probably actually use the same 8 sockets each year. If you were to pick the 10ish most common 1/4 drive standard length sockets...

Why don't Snap on make combination pliers?

That's now how a patent works. Patents cover a specific concept, and unless that concept will only work with a certain exact geometry (pliers are not this way) then when the patent is up, it's up.

How to store a 17 piece 1/4" socket set for a travel kit?

I got a second ABN aluminum rail for my 1/4" set to match my 3/8" set. This allows me to store all my metric sockets, all my extensions, and a couple inch sockets (3/8" and 1/2" because metrics don't work well on them) one one short rail. Same for my 3/8" set but I loaded that up with an SK...
