    Baldor 407B question

Hello all you vice enthusiast. What would be a fair price for this large simplex P 81 vice? I believe he said it weighs about 220 pounds 8 inch jaws. He said the jaws are like new condition. He is asking $600. I think that might be a little on the high end just trying to come up with a fair price.

How to remove the drawers from a Matco MB944

Hi there, I know this is an old post but I have a question for you. I just picked up a very large Matco toolbox with the same exact drawer slides. Those little plastic nylon cross looking things are pretty much disintegrated on mine, what kind of purpose do those things serve? The drawer seems...

    Baldor 407B question

Hey everyone. Quick question on a 1hp Baldor 407B. I know Baldor says use only soft buffing wheels. My question is can I run a wire wheel on it or a diamond deburring wheel? It came with one of those rubber expandable wheels to put sanding discs on and a soft buffing wheel that was completely...

Picked up a Rock island 587 today 6 inch jaws

Hey Drives, good morning!! I just have it sitting on a hydraulic ATV jack to move it around for now. Im using a Dewalt 4.5 inch grinder with a wire cup wheel and a worn out ( no grit left) sanding wheel with the same grinder, that gives it a nice shine. However, that will not be it's final look...

Picked up a Rock island 587 today 6 inch jaws

MacGee, just want to tank you for the tip on finding a date on the vise. Yup, closed it all the way, little wire brushing and there it was a distinct 44. I think, although not 100% sure but on the left side it looks as if it says 10, not positive though. Thanks again

Picked up a Rock island 587 today 6 inch jaws

Ok, ill message Macgee as well. That wind was crazy!!! Kept me up half the night!! Quick question, the handle on the RI does almost 2 revolutions before engaging the jaw, is there a way to solve that? Thanks a lot

Picked up a Rock island 587 today 6 inch jaws

Hey drive. You were correct my friend. I closed the vise all the way, took and wire brushed right behind main body and there it was. Very distinct 44 and if you look real hard on the left side , I believe it says 10, however not 100% sure. Thanks for the tip. Built right towards the end of the war.
