    Staple Gun

I've had a chrome Arrow staple gun for many years, wife never had the hand strength to make it work. She had an upholstery project a few months ago so I bought the 4v Bauer stapler from HF. Works great, she loves it. https://www.harborfreight.com/4v-cordless-stapler-57241.html

In need of tap and die set.

I have 2 Craftsman sets -sae and metric-that my wife bought me as a gift years ago, probably late 1990s or early 2000s. As the more frequently used taps become worn, I replace with Hertel or similar industrial quality from Mcmaster-Carr. Some sizes I have multiple types (plug, bottoming, etc)...

Are the cheaper benchtop "precision" lathes worth it to have around for projects?

I agree. Having a workshop with no lathe is a bad situation and any lathe is better than none. I agree with LXCam, a good machinist can make useful items on one of those 7x10s, it just takes longer. Sometimes a lot longer. I have a fair amount of experience on real industrial lathes, and I...

Speed Handles --- What They Good For?

I have a couple of snap-on 1/4 speed handles and use them a lot. Nice for starting small screws where you have to use your other hand for holding parts in alignment and be certain the screw starts properly. WIth a ratchet, T-handle, or spinner handle it's hard to get more than about a half...

    Meme Tool Purchase

I've had one for a year or two, it can be useful. I rarely run into pozi drive or whatever they're called, so I removed those 3 "PZ" bits and replaced with 7/64, 9/64, and 7/32- which I do use for SAE socket head cap screws.

20+ years old Harbor Freight digital caliper

I had the same caliper as OP for many years and it served its purpose. I didn't count on it for +/- .001" but I think it was probably trustworthy to about +/- .003" if I had to guess. Finally died last year, the LCD display started going crazy and new battery didn't help. I use a Mitutoyo...

Flat bits for manual impact driver

I got my stuff from Jawco the other day. I didn't order any slotted bits, just a #2 and # Phillips/cross type. Quality seems good and the price was right- under $2 each. Shipping was fast. Also bought some thread restoring files and thread chasers that are quite nice.

Need a recommendation for brake line flaring kit

I have the same Capri tool, it's a quality unit. We discussed it in some detail in another thread. This thing makes very nice flares- Metric bubble, SAE bubble, SAE double. The big advantage other than cost over the lever type Eastwood is the ease of use on the car...

Flat bits for manual impact driver

https://jawco.com/collections/manual-hand-impact-drivers This place is a few towns away from me. Impact drivers made in USA, bits Taiwan. I'm planning to order some thread files and other stuff from them.

T50 staple guns (not "narrow crown" staples). What are you using?

I recently picked up the HF/Bauer cordless stapler, same 15% off coupon. I'm fine with my old chrome Arrow stapler that Ive had for 25 years, but my wife has never had the hand strength for it and she has a small upholstery project to do. She would always and up having to either pull half the...

    (re-)Discovering T-handles

I posted this in another t-handle thread a couple years ago. Thread is a discussion of Kowa T-handles, but I have Koken ones with integral socket. They are very good quality and I use them a lot. One advantage of a speed handle though- you can rotate a screw multiple turns in a very...

    The Tiny Tools Thread

Been meaning to get a photo of this one, had it out last night to show my kids. My great-grandfather made it, he was a machinist at US Steel, Johnstown PA. The story is that this was a lunchtime/after hours project, probably sometime in the late 1930's. There's another one, I think my brother...

    Favorite Nitrile Gloves?

Thanks, I just ordered a box too, SAVE10 code still valid. We'll see how they work. Also ordered a pair of the MPact gloves for dual sport motorcyle riding.

    The Harbor Freight PASS/FAIL Thread...

https://www.harborfreight.com/automotive/jacks-jack-stands/jack-stands/6-ton-heavy-duty-ratcheting-jack-stands-yellow-58349.html 6 ton jack stands, pass. I bought 4 of the earlier version several years ago, two of them were returned because they were recalled. These newer ones are solid...

    Some cool Tekton updates

Flare crows foot sockets- I bought a 10mm and 12mm for a brake job recently. Now I want the whole set, they're quite good. The extra thickness is a nice feature in my opinion.

Bad bubble flare, cheap tool or..?

Just to follow up, I got the Civic lines done. Fishing them between firewall and subframe was the worst part of the job. Capri tool worked very well. Did most of the flares with tool in bench vise, but I had to make a couple flares under the car. I put a 17mm deep socket on my Milwaukee 3/8...

Bad bubble flare, cheap tool or..?

Agreed, the tool from ECS/Bav auto looks identical except for the handle- right down to the spelling error. "PATENT PEDING" Lol As I mentioned, I wanted this specific tool because I have a BMW which I think has the DIN bubble style flares. I don’t know for certain because I've yet to replace a...

Bad bubble flare, cheap tool or..?

Yep that's about right. I rarely flog the old girl that hard though. Usually keep it under 75mph. Sweet spot is 55 or 60.
