Good idea. I live near Seattle and rain is always a problem! I was thinking of running the gutters into a rain barrel, which should help collect and route it. I'll have to make sure downspouts drain off the gravel pad when that barrel fills up.

In the photo I had a difference in grade of 12" (or two courses of the 4x6s). Recently, I re-graded it some more so that there's only a 6" difference between high and low, and no more pot holes or hills.

I'm concerned about the different levels of settling that 12" vs 6" might have over time, like wandrur said, but hopefully by having 6"+ of 5/8" clear crushed stone should prevent a lot of that. Especially if I'm compacting it as I go.

That's a great point! I'm sure there are plenty of guides out there, but would you be able to help me understand the basic differences/benefits/downsides between epoxy and paint? I'm guessing epoxy is a stronger layer but probably more prep and work involved?
