    Similar tool storage

I've had rental properties, so I set up bags for each task, i.e. plumbing, electrical, standard repairs, etc. Just grab and go. For in the shop, I kept some of the plastic boxes that drills and saws come in, and use them to group dedicated tools and supplies together for certain tasks. Saves...

I'm 62 and my shop needs serious work.

Agreed. I had the opportunity to buy into a great spot 45 minutes away...more than that during rush hour. I'm retired, I don't want to deal with traffic anymore, especially if I'm not getting paid to do it.

I'm 62 and my shop needs serious work.

I think you answered your own question. Your wife doesn't want to move. Try prying a woman away from her children...and ESPECIALLY her grandchildren. I know people who have tried that. They either lost the fight outright, or got served divorce papers.

What's the one garage upgrade you wish you'd done sooner?

Mini-split in an attached garage, 1000sqft 12ft ceilings, insulated. 3 garage doors are south facing with no trees. It's on 24/7 365. If I'm not working that day, set to 82 during the summer, and FP mode during the winter. Averages around $25-30/month

What's the one garage upgrade you wish you'd done sooner?

In no particular order: Mini-split - I have a full unobstructed southern exposure, it was unbearable in the summer. It's nice to have heat as well. The Lift - I'm getting too old to crawl around on the floor Lighting - Self explanatory I'm torn on which of the three was the one I wish I'd...

    New toolbox must haves

I have a shop and a garage, with a bottom box in each that are 52". One has the two long top drawers and the other one doesn't. I never thought that I would want the long drawers...until I had them. Both have power strips, but I only use the USB ports for charging my lights. I have my...

Walmart Getting Serious About Tools in 2026?

While I have to agree that they would have owned the tool market, from what I've seen, Walmart ONLY cares about the bottom line. They have dedicated buyers who want cheap sh#t. Do they own the market for anything other than that??

Walmart Getting Serious About Tools in 2026?

@four.cycle I can agree with you on most, if not everything you stated. Unfortunately, it's Walmart. They are a world-wide behemoth. They don't have to be serious about market share for anything, much less tools. I think the ACE customer is a good example. Someone is grabbing some milk, and...

Walmart Getting Serious About Tools in 2026?

Might have been because they were clearancing a lot of Fram filters, at least in my local store. There were way more filters in the clearance section than in automotive.

    Garage Journal referenced on Youtube

When I was taking computer programming classes back in the stone ages, all of the professors stressed "Garbage in, Garbage Out" which meant if you're working with bad data, you're going to get bad results. There's a lot of good information on the Internet. There's also a lot of bad information...

Suggestions for Replacement Mesh WiFi Router System

I've had the old Google pre-Nest Wifi stuff for probably 6-7 years in two different houses, both around 3,000 sq ft. No issues. You can get the older stuff on eBay for pennies.

I made a tool to install my AC clutch!

I had a friends BMW where the clutch crapped out. I bought a clutch removal tool from a fellow GJ member, and that made the job easy peasy. I have the equipment to evacuate and refill, but swapping out the clutch is much quicker.

    Car condo owners, in here

You're kinda right, but: I grew up with 60s and 70s muscle cars and they were prehistoric compared to current cars. Properly configured, they could be terrors in a straight line, but don't even think of doing high speed corners with most of them. -- I'm leaving out resto-mods as that is a...

    Under-Deck Drainage Systems - options

I just finished getting quotes for a replacement deck with a dry area underneath. A couple of them quoted using the galvanized roofing, so it's a pretty common solution.

Yeah, talking to a bunch of folks who have had the procedure, the results are mixed. I have the L5-S1 issue. On a lighter note, I might have an interesting vehicle added to my fleet shortly.
