But when going for emission won't the ECU still inform the smog computers that the check engine light should be active.

This is most likely what it is. My mothers Tacoma does the same thing. Due to its age and mileage I just reset and get it to pass emissions before the next inspection. I have replaced the gas cap and other sensors and it still continues to go on periodically. It will even go off by itself too.

I am currently remodeling my kitchen and had to move some lights around, so had to do some patching. I used a patch filler kit, then some mud and finally used a spray on texture called knockdown from Home Depot. Just sprayed it on waited a few minutes....and just went over it gently to get it...

Wow cool find. Is it normal for pawn shops to carry tools? I can't even remember the last time I was at a pawn shop, but hell I will visit them more often if so. There are tons here in Vegas for obvious reasons....may have to make some stops.
