PSA - Actron products and all product support discontinued

When did you buy the scanner? If you bought it two years ago and now there is no support, yeah that *****. If you bought it 10 years ago and now there is no support, I think you had a good 10 years. Support and availability of any piece of software will end at some point. Is there an Actron...

    Ikon ratchets lack QR feature

If you remove the detent on the Tekton or the Husky then there is nothing to hold the head in place, it will be completely loose and flop around. The SO has a recess for a split ring that provides friction to keep the head in place. I would need to find a way to do the same on the other two...

    Ikon ratchets lack QR feature

I've been searching for a good flex head ratchet with QR and I wish HF would offer one but I doubt they ever will. I have a SO flex head and get frustrated trying to remove sockets especially with greasy hands so I just leave the socket on there and grab another ratchet. I picked up a Tekton...

Gearwrench 120XP Flex Ratchet Handle Replacement

You can try this Husky flex head, its about 11mm and also has the same style detents for the flex. I found this at a flea market for $1 because it didn't have the switch but I had a spare switch from a Duralast ratchet and then I cut the handle down to make it a stubby.

Gearwrench 120XP Flex Ratchet Handle Replacement

Apex aside from making Gearwrench tools also makes them for Duralast, Husky, Master Mechanic, and many others. You can try sourcing a donor handle one of their ratchets or breaker bars even since they will most likely have a clone of the GW ratchet. Maybe a flea market or cheap pawn shop...

    Master Force India

That 1/2 wrench doesn't look bad. A while back O'reilly's PowerTorque wrenches also started to be made in India and they finish looks quite poor. I don't blame the Indian manufacturer. When a retailer wants a supplier to provide cheaper tools (for more profit) costs have to be cut somewhere so...

First Experience with Vim Tools Ends in Dissappointment

I did a Crosstrek brake job once. I had to use my foot on a long double box wrench to break it loose. That socket would have come in handy. It would be interesting if they made a universal with an extension so that you can use your own socket. Anyway, hope this one was just a one off dud and VIM...

New Icon G2 Wrenches? (Not just Ratchets)

I think you guys are talking about two different screwdriver sets. SKU 56508 is for the older set SD-8 that is no longer available and sku 70309 is for the current set ACSD-8 that added anti-cam out features. It seems that HF is not offering replacements for the newer anti-cam out screwdrivers.

    Ratchet Modifications, Lower Spring Constant?

I "modified" a Duralast 100 position 1/2 ratchet to reduce backdrag. The ratchet is Apex/Gearwrench made with dual offset pawls so you get 100 positions out of a 50 tooth gear. I just removed the springs holding the pawls and fully compressed them about 150-200 times or so. This made it feel...

Is cheater pipes on bolt cutters okay or no?

I think bolt cutters are the wrong tool to cut padlocks since most people will try to cut the shackle. That is hardened steel and you may end up breaking your tool. They're called bolt cutters not padlock cutters. You might succeed cutting a small brass lock body instead. Otherwise, you should...

Looking for a tape measure with metric on BOTH sides of the tape - anyone know of one?

I bought the PSE55E from Komelon, dual inch and metric scales because I got tired of doing conversions in my head. The one I have is marked 5m/16ft and has inch and metric on both sides with the scales marked vertically on the back side. I like this one because the 16ft tape is still one inch...

    Milwaukee 2105 Flashlight Issues

These use AAA batteries. That was one of the things that made me hesitate buying it. I prefer something rechargeable.

    Milwaukee 2105 Flashlight Issues

I was eyeing these at Home Depot a while back. I ended up not buying, I must have got distracted by something shiny. I'm glad I didn't get them now. What type of work do you do? Were any of these dropped or the switch breaks from normal use? Not trying to blame you if they've been dropped...

    SK Hip Roof Cantilever Toolbox

I have this style of box by Craftsman and Husky, I believe they were both made by Waterloo. Yours looks similar with a slightly different tray layout but the paint job looks like all the other Kennedy toolboxes, so I am going to guess its made by Kennedy. I also used this for my bicycle tools...

    Recommend me a screwdriver set

If you want something with an easy exchange, maybe look again at the new Craftsman at Lowes? They are nicer than what Sears used to sell and they look like the old familiar Craftsmans that you used for the past 20 years. The blades are improved over the old screwdrivers and they are made in...

    Husky Tool Box Keys

Just search ebay for "husky tool box" and they will sell you a key based on the lock cylinder code. I'm sure your local locksmith could do the same.

Counterfeit Snap on wrenches? Is there such a thing?

I don't own Snap On wrenches and I'm no SO expert, but I've seen plenty at flea markets and these wouldn't stand out as counterfeits to me. If they are counterfeit, they put in a lot of effort to make them look legit. I thought you were going to get some poorly made knock offs but these look...

    Craftsman tool boxes

It depends. Were you already planning to buy these toolboxes from Lowes? If so, then yes its good deal, they retail for $329 so $200 is more than a third off the price and you don't have to make the trip to Lowes. There is always going to be someone that will say they got a better deal with X...

Counterfeit Snap on wrenches? Is there such a thing?

A picture of the item would have helped. By counterfeit do you mean that it looks identical to Snap On, or that it sort of looks like Snap On to a casual observer, or that is says Snap On but not in font or style of tool ever made by the original manufacturer? To me its highly unlikely that...

Looking for a slightly fancy, but not too fancy, digital caliper

You can use your phone's voice assistant to do these averages. You should be able to go "hey Siri" or "hey Google" and ask it to average out some measurements for you. This would be your lowest cost option for a DIY user. If you are in a noisy shop environment you may need get some noise...
