    Menards Garage designer.

I did a 40x63 from Menards in '06. Very happy. No surprises. I don't recall missing anything. I did buy the plans with it. This was a big help. I did buy some extra lumber to support the walls during the build. Not a big deal. Overall very pleased.

What size metal building would you recommend?

We did a 40X63. We have a 33ft 5th wheel camper, a 22ft pontoon, 3 tractors, a riding mower and a 20x27 shop in one corner. The only thing I did wrong was go 14ft side walls instead of 16. I was only able to do a 12 ft tall door. Limits our options on 5th wheels. We were able to find we love though.

    Finishing Inside Of Pole Barn

Lots of good advise here. Also consider insulating under the concrete. I have a 40x60 with a 20x30 shop inside. Shop walls and ceiling insulated. I regret not insulating under the shop area.

    More leaks in pole building!

What about foam to seal the eves, and a vent in each gable end for air intake?

Pole Barn Plans and Questions on Dimensions.

I have a 40x60 with 14 ft walls. Limits me to a 12 ft door. That is my biggest regret. If there is any chance of a camper or tractor with ROPS, go big on at least one door.

    Pole barn planing stage

Are the 10ft tall pickups going to ever be on a trailer? My biggest regret was only being able to do a 12ft tall door. Limits my camper options.

    Pole barn questions

I have a 40x60 north of Omaha. Similar climate as you I would guess. I put the roll blanket between the purlins and the steel on the roof. The blanket isn't foil faced but rather with a tarp like material. I don't remember what it was called. The shed has been up since '03. No condensation...

    Polebarn size question

I have a 40x63 and it works well for me. I have a quarter of it enclosed for a shop. The rest has enough storage for 3 ford tractors, an 18ft boat and a 30ft camper. I too have 14 ft walls. This was an issue as I could only have a 12ft door. Our small 5th wheel camper just fits in the door...

    Menards Garage

We put up a 40x63 in '06. No problems. If you think you need a 24x24, build a 36x36. Nobody ever says they built too big. Brian

Prepping For 40x60 dream shop building..

The walls are 14ft. I wish I had gone taller so I could have had a taller door. As mentioned, the 12 footer limits our camper options. The posts are laminated 2x6s. Brian

Prepping For 40x60 dream shop building..

BG, we did it ourselves over several weekends. A buddy frames houses. He acted as forman and provided the lift to set the trusses. We waited a couple of years and then put in the floor. Built the house in between. No problems with the Menards kit. Their computer design gave us the complete...

Prepping For 40x60 dream shop building..

I put up a 40x60 Menards building in '03. Love it. I have since built a 20x27 shop in one corner. Happy with that as well. The initial build cost 20ish. The floor 8ish. The shop 3ish. I am in eastern Nebraska. Give thought to your use and insulation needs. Brian

Looks great. Who did your concrete? I used Rock Hard Concrete out of Fort Calhoun. Did a great job. Brian

    My New Shop 40 X 63 (Nebraska)

I am just a bit west of you. South of Blair. East of Kennard. Some summer we are having. I put up a 40x63 in '03. Menards kit. Good luck with your build.

    Roll-up doors

I am putting a 20x27 shop inside my 40x63 pole barn. I'd like to have a 9x7 door on one wall so I can move things into the shop to work on as needed. I was thinking a roll-up door would be nice as it would take up less space. Thinking about mounting it on the outside of the shop again to safe...
