    Garage Heater Install Questions

Yep, that's my plan as well (on only when I'm out in the garage). Besides having fun with the new 'toy' as the wife calls it, have left it on the past few days as I knew this cold spell was coming and I'm doing the clean out and disassembly of the bottom 2/3rd of the floor to ceiling rack.

    Garage Heater Install Questions

@shadycrew31, Picking up a ceiling fan is not the issue, installing 20+' up is. Scaffolding & truck rental, etc as stated a few posts above. Will eventually install a quality ceiling fan and paint, and of course install a better fan deserving of that effort. Until then, got a vornado 660...

    Garage Heater Install Questions

Will have to take a look at those pictures to find out what I'm doing wrong. In the meantime, gonna try one of these as it looks like I can mount it pretty close to the ground. Fingers crossed this actually works until I can mount the ceiling fan sometime in the future. (or perhaps this unit...

    Garage Heater Install Questions

Thanks all! Hey u3b3rg33k, is that a regular oscillating type stand fan? I'd rather do that than haul scaffolding. I do have a 120V outlet on the ceiling that the funny guys who built this house put there for a garage door opener that's not in use, since I installed a jackshaft type opener...

    Garage Heater Install Questions

Thanks ItsNemo. I was afraid someone was gonna say that. Any suggestions on how to safely get to a 20' height? I've got a 19' ladder but with nothing to lean it against in the center of the garage.

Opposite view of garage to show layout. Please excuse the sad state of angle iron and the mess, lol. That whole thing is being junked to clear up some room.

    Garage Heater Install Questions

Got one of those Farenheat FUH54s that are available at Home Depot. Biggest unit they had instore so 5000 watts. Garage is 20 x 22, but about 20' tall. I installed the unit on a wall with the bottom of the unit about 7.5' off the ground. Installed on an 11" bracket arm with two 2x4s as...

    Constant Velocity (CV) joints help.

Thanks for the tip, I just saw his setup (very nice oldcarguy!). Just trying to help/didn't mean to offend, and hope it also helps someone in the future who may have the same question but might not in be the same situation.

    Constant Velocity (CV) joints help.

This is pretty easy. It took me about 2 hours of actual work the 1st time I did it, (plus about 9hrs of internet searching/reading every snag!) If I had to do it again, I think I could do them in about 30-45 minutes (20 minutes if I had a pneumatic setup) Don't know what your particular setup...

Garage door is offset from wall.. Can I install Liftmaster 3800?

Dear All, Thanks everyone for the guidance! I just installed this today, got it working first try and I have to say the install was riduculously easy! (I didn't even have to aim the sensors, as where I mounted them happend to be just right) I opted to wall mount the light, since I...

Garage door is offset from wall.. Can I install Liftmaster 3800?

I'm in a 2 story "neo"-colonial home. Here in NJ, the builders in the past decade did a lot of 2 story foyers & great rooms, and single story rooms w/9' ceilings. As a result, the 2 story garage and great room are on one side of the house. Ask me how much fun it is to change lightbulbs...

Garage door is offset from wall.. Can I install Liftmaster 3800?

Thanks Nova65ss, I did think about that as I do much of my 'work' in the wintertime with the garage doors shut and I do have 2 large windows in the garage. (I guess I'm a glutton for punishment from extra busted knuckles and rolling on ice cold concrete):wtf: It's been my experience, that...

Garage door is offset from wall.. Can I install Liftmaster 3800?

Thanks bluesman2a, your advice on the order of operations is much appreciated. Given that the install itself takes very little effort/mods (thanks to all the guidance on this fourm!), and I need to give my wife a break ASAP on opening and closing :bounce:, I might opt to install 'stock' now...

Garage door is offset from wall.. Can I install Liftmaster 3800?

Thanks for the ideas Ironcrow, seem less complicated and more reliable than the torsion springs (just my initial thoughts, as I know nothing about these). Always wanted a trebuchet type device. Google-ing now!

Garage door is offset from wall.. Can I install Liftmaster 3800?

I did think about that acutally, but that seems like a major operation. Is that a DIY type thing? I would like to put a lift in the garage so I can work underneath my cars without hitting my forehead on the oilpans all the time!

Garage door is offset from wall.. Can I install Liftmaster 3800?

Thanks Nova65ss, That makes it much easier as modding for a small device should be much less structural type work. Any gotchas here? I've searched this forum, and it seems the manual is a bit off with placement, so that was a help also.

Garage door is offset from wall.. Can I install Liftmaster 3800?

Thanks guys! How should I stack the 2x8s? With wood screws? Nails? Glue? Nails & Glue? (Like I said I don't know 'jack' about home construction!) Also, do these need to go the full height of the door, or can I just have the 2' or so (size of liftmaster)
