It’s a 100+ year old wooden beam, I’m not sure the species of tree, just curious about a rough estimation of what it might handle , is it crazy to think it could handle 8/900 pounds? Now that I know the calculation is based more on center size than the connected point I can go off that , thank you.

I have an old hay barn , the door/horizontal beam span is 14’. It’s a 6”x6” and reduces to 4”x4” where it connects to the vertical 9”x9” beams. I’m just wondering what weight I should expect that horizontal beam to support if I wanted to add a hoist/chainfall to it? Not sure how to factor in...
