Love my Koken, but the switch is backwards. The Tekton 1/4 is also top notch.

If you feel like you need USA made Snap-on sockets as a home mechanic (you don't), just get a 3/8 Cat set, it's the same product for less moolah.

    Lower Cost Outdoor Laser Level

We use a $25 Chinese (Amazon) self leveling laser level in an old photo tripod. It's plenty bright if you use it at dusk or later. This may not be a great strategy for a professional contractor. But it works great for occasional DIY use-if you are not in a hurry.

Are tool truck sockets “worth it” for the professional?

I replaced my Tekton sockets with CAT (SO) . I don't think I can tell a difference as a weekend warrior, then again, I won't miss the extra $30. The Tekton ratchet was great, not quite as good as Koken however. My Tekton set was paseed to my oldest at college.

Covering rock wool in our new shop

How strict is building code enforcement in the islands? What is the requirement for insulation & fire protection? Is there a difference in your insurance cost by finishing with Sheetrock? In the city of Anacortes it's strict, apparently it's less strictly enforced outside of city limits.

Covering rock wool in our new shop

Consider fire protection. Rockwool & Sheetrock are your friend. Price wise Sheetrock over fiberglass insulation might be best. In Anacortes, the building inspector required insulation in our garage since many are turned into living spaces.

Proto, Koken (not Zeal or z series), Williams USA

I looked at all these sockets- in the end, was torn between Cat (SO) & Koken. Bought Cat because of a local dealer. I did spring for a Koken 72t ratchet, and a couple of Koken 1/4 etorx sockets. Both Cat & Koken are excellent. The 3/8 8-19 Cat set is $52.
