if this is the cross section of the front, where right is into the garage and left of the footer is the apron(outside) then yes. There is some heat loss, but not a huge amount realistically. You could do a thermal break before or after the footing, but I’m not doing that.

Hey Larry, I was just consulting on this. For my application, I have a continuous footer under the portal frame where my garage door is. I will be ending insulation at the edge of the footer. If you don’t have a continuous footer, you can end insulation wherever you transition your pour.

Hoping to get some information from this thread. Do you insulate between the slab and foundation where the overhead door comes down? I have footers under the portal opening shown in red here. Do you insulate between the slab and the footer? I am planning on using 2in R10 under the slab, and...
