Picked up this Bonney MB82 (right?) for $100 (full of tools) in Trappe, PA. Someone pointed out that given where it was bought and the "SMOKEY" stenciled on it it might be associated with Smokey Yunick. Anyone know the first year that the MB82 was available?

That box appears to be an MB82. First catalog I've found referencing that model is 1950. He moved to FL in 47, so it's close. Maybe he picked up a full Bonney set in that box straight out of the service and it stayed at the family place in PA?

Wow...I had never heard of Smokey Yunick before, but damned if he wasn't born in Neshaminy Falls, PA, which is less than an hour away from Trappe.

All I can add is that it was bought from a FB Marketplace seller in Tappe, PA for $100 (full of punches, chisels, files, etc.; I could barely lift it) and he was selling it as a "DeeZee Toolbox", LOL.

Yeah, someone suggested Rem Line in the first place I posted it but I couldn't find any likely matches. Tried looking for Waterloo, Matco, Mac, etc. Struck out. The single knob and single support seem to be unusual.

So I've heard. Just did some googling for similar MBC boxes and struck out. That single knob on the lid seems to be especially hard to find.

Any idea who the manufacturer might be?

I've read several places elsewhere that some older boxes weren't stamped, hence my not ruling S-O out. And it's always possible that it is stamped somewhere under that olive drab paint job, but I can't find it. Another notable feature is that it only has the lid support under the left side...
