Just curious, how much does the equivalent hammer cost from snap on if buying it today?

Cheap wheel balancers, computerized manual spin units

I wouldn’t buy anything else until the return goes through. That balancer is sold by a 3rd party on Amazon so amazons normal return policy doesn’t apply. Even though it says free returns for 30 days you are likely going to find out that you are on the hook for return shipping since Amazon...

    Steel deck posts

What’s the advantage? I can’t imagine that a 5x5 steel tube is cheaper or easier to install than a 6x6 wood post. If the rest of the deck is wood then why steel for the posts?

    welding pinholes in sheetmetal,TIG?

Filling that pinholes with a welder rarely works. The rusted area is usually super thin to start and even if you get a weld to fill the hole, when you go to grind or sand the weld down the surrounding metal starts to designate. If it’s a trunk floor and nobody will see it you will be miles...

What's the trick to getting rivet shanks to break off cleanly every time?

Improperly sized hole or wrong thickness material will cause pull rivets to not always set correctly.

What's the difference between these two Craftsman wrenches that one is listed for nearly ten times as much as the other?

It’s almost never a large purchase that’s used but lots of small “purchases” with a price high enough that it keeps other people from bidding or buying it. It is rampant on eBay and other similar sites. Go look it up. There are tons of articles and videos on it.

What's the difference between these two Craftsman wrenches that one is listed for nearly ten times as much as the other?

Look up how money laundering works. It will explain some of the crazy prices you see people paying for things like that. It’s not about the item. It’s about the papertail fro the money.

$9K installed quote for a tuxedo lift what are they thinking!!

For 9k I would expect that to include cutting and pouring a thickened slab where the lift will bolt down.

Building a new 40x60 and looking at flooring options?

I think tile would be a bad choice for a general use shop. They get extremely slippery when wet or covered in things like sawdust. They will also crack if you drop something heavy on them.

    Battery chainsaw

Just be careful with one. Many people think they are safer to use because they aren’t loud and noisy like a gas powered saw. Unfortunately with all the torque on the low side with an electric motor they will eat right through safety stop pants. A gas motor will stall out the clutch if the...

    Do you "exercise" your ratchets?

Don’t forget to rotate your screwdrivers 90 degrees each day. You don’t want one side to become more sun faded than the other and mess up its even grip.

    Would I regret a 4 post lift?

Final update. The credit card company sided with me on the dispute and I got all my money back. Time to start looking for another lift from a more reputable company. If anyone is reading this and looking for a lift, I highly recommend avoiding Halo.

    Would I regret a 4 post lift?

Thanks for the recommendation. I smartly kept screenshots of all the communication with the company showing as in stock and pickup in NJ as well as the shipping information showing they decided to ship it to a completely different location. It was all uploaded with the dispute. I’m not sure...

    Would I regret a 4 post lift?

Ended up finally getting a call from the owner of Halo Lifts yesterday. The guy was a rude a hole the entire call. The only thing he offered was to refund 70% of my money since he “shipped” the lift. This is despite me being told that it was in stock and I could go pick it up at their NJ...

Do they still make 4-post lift bridge jacks that are manual on the roller bearings?

If you haven’t ordered a new from HALO. The company took my money for a lift back in December and had given me the runaround since then. I’m still without the lift and will need to do a credit card chargeback come Monday to get my money back. The company doesn’t actually have what they are...

    Lathe project question

Do you want a lathe or a project? You are going to have your hands full learning how to run a lathe. You don’t need to be worrying about electronics and what's normal or what’s not at the same time unless you like the idea of a project machine. Go find a good south end 9 or 10 with some...

    Would I regret a 4 post lift?

Still waiting to see if it will show up. Tracking number said it was supposed to be here on their 9th then the 12th then the 19th yesterday and now the 14th today. It also said it was in Carlisle PA earlier this week but now is in Kansas. It’s coming to CT so that makes no sense at all. I’m...

    Would I regret a 4 post lift?

Just following up since I started the thread. I ended up ordering a Halo 9k pro lift with a rolling bridge jack. At this point I'm not sure I would recommend them. They were very quick to take my money but then gave me the run around for weeks when I aaked why the invoice didn't include when...
