    Tool Sets

Just as a tip if you want to do a foam insert like the one above or just in a box with sockets. You take your top foam and space out your layout. Then find a socket that has the exact or close enough outside diameter and use it as a "drill bit" to cut the top layer of foam. It will make a...

Looking for tool organizational system suggestions (AKA Mil. packout-type kits) for a beginning Handyman who will eventually branch out on his own.

I believe the boxes are great for people that are doing handyman work, you know pushing a cart around as you can configure to your needs. But that is basically if you have elevators and flat surfaces everywhere. I got several Veto Pro Pac bags which I prefer to stackable organizers. My MCT is...

    Ratcheting wrench question

Now that I think about it, are the CAT ratcheting wrenches SO? I thought that I read somewhere on here they were and then I thought maybe I read they were not. Not trying to get into another thread of CAT SO tools, but just curious.

Looking for tool organizational system suggestions (AKA Mil. packout-type kits) for a beginning Handyman who will eventually branch out on his own.

The best on the market is Toughbuilt stacktech. They unfortunately will be going out of business but they are the best. I use Flex Stack Pack which is good, a friend of mine uses Packout, another uses Rigid, and another uses Husky. All have their good points but in my opinion Stacktech is the...

    Ratcheting wrench question

Thanks for the input. I think I will hold off on this one until further down the road, or after I start having issues with the ratchet mechanism on my current set. Or better yet just change them out as they wear out with Flank Drive Plus.

    Ratcheting wrench question

I mostly run into SAE bolts in my line of country and I have been using Wera Joker non-reversable ratcheting wrenches for some years (about 6). Recently I decided I was going to do a whole upgrade cycle on my portable tool kit, buying the best that is available while trying to keep it miUSA. I...

Any tools you buy NEW and immediate upgrade or modify or polish or whatever??

Bought a Makita subcompact lxt 18v drill and changed out the chuck so it is a 1/4 hex chuck. Now same size as an impact driver but without the issue with snapping bits or over torqueing fasteners. I am very happy with it.

    brushed vs brushless power tools

Brushless tools also dont generate the same heat as brushed tools. I have run a brushed drill to the point it was hot to touch the back end. Brushless get warm.

Eklind Is Closing Its IL Plant

I have a set that specifically say Bondhus Made in the USA on each bit.

Eklind Is Closing Its IL Plant

even Bondhus only makes ball end bits now which is annoying in my opinion.

Eklind Is Closing Its IL Plant

Funny to say but I had a hell of a time tracking down 1" 1/4 hex bits of various sizes metric and SAE that can be put on a bit driver that were miUSA. I do not know why elkind didn't make them. I found a set that has Bondhus rolled on each bit. I think if they realized there is a market for that...

Drilling Stainless - Where did I go wrong

You should center punch it, use the correct size drill bit, drill slow with a lot of pressure, and use cutting oil. By reading what you did it looks like you just made the spot you were drilling more difficult for yourself by using another bit which probably made the metal even harder in that...
