If this wall will be part of the inside of your garage wall (exposed) you might consider some closed cell foam insulation on the outside prior to backfilling, especially if your garage/shop will be heated.

Do you have access to a local woodworkers guild? If so, you might want to join that. Ours costs $75/year and we have a fully equipped shop. They offer mentoring classes on building many different things, tool training, and they do a HUGE amount of charity work for local orginizations...

Great looking building/shop. Two points: Have you figured out yet that it's not big enough? :bounce: And, if you are going to insulate and drywall the joint you better hop to it before you put too much stuff in there. You'll get it filled up and it makes it very difficult to get the job done.

Can you build the gable ends flat on the second floor and stand them up and then tie them in to the end rafters and floor joists? Should work for rough framing and sheating, but tough to do for siding.
