For reverse, mount a ring gear between the driveshaft and diff yolk. Then use a starter to drive it backwards. You can even get real lightweight starters to keep things light. Looks like a cool project. I really like the look of that RC car. Like a modern George Barris.

Thanks, Got the mig mounted tonight. I don't have the big bottles yet so I just strapped the little ones on half assed. Going to make a propper mount for the big bottles. Still have to make a reel for the cables. And I'm not sure what to put beside the welder on top. Any ideas?

You could easily mount the springs inside the frame so there is nothing on the top rail. I don't have an issue with the bolts sticking up so I went the easiest route. Just need to pick up some proper length bolts now
