1965 Craftsman 150 Drill Press with Lathe Kit

One more picture for now, showing power switch. I'll probably get a new switch and 3 prong power cord since this wiring is not in great shape.

1965 Craftsman 150 Drill Press with Lathe Kit

Well, I cleaned it up and put it back together. The pole didn't come out as shiny as I hoped but I can try again some other time. I'll also paint the bracket holding the motor and clean the chuck better. Under the base there are numbers 3-8-66, which might be a date code? So maybe the press was...

1965 Craftsman 150 Drill Press with Lathe Kit

Good to know - I'll leave it the color it is - thank you! And I don't plan on using it as a lathe, I'll just clean up those pieces and keep them in a box. If the lathe parts are not from an official kit, it may be possible that the original owner purchased pieces from a Craftsman wood lathe and...

1965 Craftsman 150 Drill Press with Lathe Kit

Yup! The pieces say Craftsman right on them. I'll try to get some pictures uploaded tonight.

1965 Craftsman 150 Drill Press with Lathe Kit

I think you may be right, I just went out to the truck and looked at it and there's hardly any surface rust or anything. I may just spray it with Windex and wipe it down. But I do like the looks of the restored presses on here that have been painted gold, light blue or even black.

1965 Craftsman 150 Drill Press with Lathe Kit

Yeah, I think if I wanted to use it as a lathe I'd have to lay it on a bench or something. The documents are as follows: - Drill Press Illustrated Manual of Operation - Operating Instructions and Parts List for Drill Press 113.24501 + 113.24511 - Instructions for Installation and Operation of...

1965 Craftsman 150 Drill Press with Lathe Kit

Has anyone seen one of these presses with a lathe kit? I bought it this morning on craigslist, couldn't find any information online anywhere. I was just looking for a relatively inexpensive floor standing drill press and chose to get this for $250 instead of spending $350 for a new one from...

    Epoxy-Coat Mixing Ratio

I just coated my floor yesterday with Epoxy-Coat. The instructions that come with the kit specify a 2:1 ratio. The instructions that you can download from Epoxy-Coat.com specify a 2.3:1 ratio. The downloadable instructions also say if you mix with measuring cups/pails to use 28 oz of hardener to...

    50AMP 40AMP 30AMP plugs

No ****. My first post stated that the circuit breaker should never exceed the rating of the wire OR the receptacle. However, there's nothing wrong with connecting equipment that pulls 30 amps into a receptacle, wire and breaker rated at 50 amps. I'm having lots of fun, you're just embarrassing...

    50AMP 40AMP 30AMP plugs

I just read the National Electric Code and I've determined that I am not mistaken. Section 210.23(A)(1) requires that the circuit rating be at least 25% greater than the equipment, and it does not specify a maximum circuit rating. Maximum circuit rating limits are only listed for special...

    50AMP 40AMP 30AMP plugs

Actually, a TIG welder I'm looking to purchase only pulls 30 amps maximum and the instruction manual specifies the use of a 50 amp receptacle, 6 gauge wire and 50 amp breaker.

    50AMP 40AMP 30AMP plugs

There is nothing wrong with connecting a device that uses 30 amps into a receptacle, wire and breaker all rated for 50 amps. The danger is when the trip current of the breaker exceeds the current capacity of the receptacle and/or wire. Then, if you connect a device that pulls more current than...

Warming up the Daily Driver in the Garage

I also had a dettached unheated garage in upstate NY for 4 years. I did exactly what Mike F recommended. I walked in the garage, opened the garage door, started my car or truck, put it in gear, pulled out of the garage (with minimal or no gas), closed garage door, waited 1 minute maximum for...

Is there some trick to using these (HF) wheel dollies?

I have a pair of the HF dollies also and they are ****. With a 3000 pound Chevelle on them the car won't move. I took them out from under the car and looked at them and the caster wheels are only a hair away from the metal piece that bolts to the tray, so when there's any weight at all on them...

Rubber on Walls to Prevent Car Door Dents?

"Wall Guard" Now that I know what it's called I can search for it. I found the below website and the "2200 Heavy Duty" is pretty much exactly what I was thinking about. Thanks. http://www.wallguard.com/wallguards/industrial.htm

Rubber on Walls to Prevent Car Door Dents?

The bottom 2 feet of my garage walls are concrete block and I'm thinking about fastening some sort of rubber to the top 6 inches or so in order to prevent dents on my car doors if I accidentally let the doors open too far. Anyone know of anything I can use for this? I did a search on this...

    The car dolly thread

I just bought a set of Harbor Freight dollies for my 3000 pound 65 Chevelle. That's 750 lbs per dollie; each dollie is rated for 1000 pounds. It was extremely difficult to push the car around in my garage this afternoon, even though the floor is very smooth. After finally moving the car into...

I like it! I'm gonna get one. Thanks for the info. I'll post pictures of my garage in a couple months after I finish with the sheetrock, new door, benches, shelves, etc.
