    School me on connectors

I always assumed it was because most ac home wiring is solid wire and wont squish into a **** splice while most dc mobile wiring is multistrand and will hold a crimp better.

    Battery blew, now no spark...help

The only time I've ever seen a battery explode is from overcharging. Thats probly what smoked whatever smoked under the dash. you could check the coil signal with a test light, but i think you have bigger problems.

Break or bend a wrench for me.

I've seen a number of cheapo wrenches blow out a box end. When he first started, one of the guys I work with blew out the end of a no name box end 21mm doing an alignment and caught a piece in his forearm. No cheater bar, no double wrench, just a 260 pound guy hanging off it.

last time i moved shops, i met the snap on dealer when i dropped my box off (krl1023 with a side locker). before he even said hello or introduced himself, he asked me how much i owed on it and when i told him i bought it outright he demanded my previous snap on dealer's contact information so he...

    Tools for testing head gaskets?

old nasty never changed coolant can look like that also... what i mean to say is don't fix it if its not broke. if your only symptom is nasty coolant and MAYBE a failed combustion gas test, i might try running it with some fresh coolant for a bit and see what happens. make sure you get all the...

    Tools for testing head gaskets?

are you sure you didn't get a little coolant in the test fluid? it will automatically change color if you do. from what i gather that was your only symptom? leakdown is usually pretty noticeable when testing for it, i doubt 1 psi/ minute (i know not an accurate test) would be outside acceptable...

    Tools for testing head gaskets?

Make sure you don't get any coolant up into your combustion gas detector, it will cause an automatic fail. Depending on how the gasket failed, you may get oil in the radiator/ coolant in oil, bubbles/ exhaust smell in radiator, coolant in exhaust. A cooling system pressure test may push coolant...

    Newest Hunter Alignment Question

Most OE hubcaps can stay on and the heads will install over them. its usually just the aftermarket cheap brittle junky ones that stick out too much.

    + and - bits

Thanks for that link, I'm an Automotive tech and I use multiple types of fasteners and bits every day and I thought I had a pretty good collection of bits. Granted I'll probably never come across a TP3 head, or a pentalobe, but if I do I'll know what to call them. Good read.

    Band Truck

sorry for being confusing, i was speaking of the ignition pick up coil in the distributor, the hall effect sensor, but when i went to look for a pic, it looks like the design changed from 95-96, and the 95 version was the one i was referring to, i can't say i remember ever replacing the newer...

    Anyone rebuilt some Reelcraft reels?

We threw a 3/8 hose reelcraft reel out at work a few months back that wouldn't lock. I grabbed it from dumpster and brought it home to take apart. It was just a broken spring on the lock lever, but even in the 3/8 version the recoil spring was a giant pain in my ***. I have a 1/2 inch hose reel...

    Scissor Lift

I've got the bend-pak MD-6XP from northern tool. it goes on sale frequently, and i think when i bought mine 2 years ago it was 1800 bux with free shipping. I do wish, at times, that it went a little higher, but with a roller stool its really not bad. I had to make some 2x10 ramps as others have...

What can cause early front wheel bearing failure?

check splines of axle for corrosion, that could effect bearing pre-load when torqued. tire balance and wear patterns can cause premature bearing failure. runout on a brake rotor can also cause premature bearing failure whether is is from the hub or a warped rotor. If a bearing has been bad...
