The sorbothane washers are toast. I think they were too compressed and they eventually just split/tore apart. Can anyone recommend a type of hanger? There is a spring type (supposedly better for low frequency vibrations) and a rubber/neoprene type which is better for high frequency vibrations...

If you lost 100 lbs of propane you should have been able to detect that with a soap test. Did you test all the joints? Did you test the joint inside the heater at the control valve?
