    Moisture Under Rubber Flooring

Thanks for the advice! I do have a threshold, but never installed that - I should get on that. Yes, I beleive the moisutre came from the roof and door. But, it sounds like I should also test for vapor emissions.

    Moisture Under Rubber Flooring

I got the mats out. It looks like the water came in from two places - under the door, and from a hole in the roof I got with that big storm that hit MD recently. Is there anything I could do to prevent water from getting under the mats, other than making sure water doesn't get in in the first...

    Moisture Under Rubber Flooring

I use half of my garage as a gym, and use rubber horse mats for flooring. Today, I noticed there was some moisture under parts of them. Is there anything I can do to prevent this, like putting something under the mats? I believe the moisture cane from water that got in the garage from under...

What's the temperature in your 'GARAGE' ?

In the summer, it got as hot as 98°. I think it was typically 5-10° cooler than the outside temp. In the Fall, my digital thermometer got stuck on 75°. Today, I took out the batteries and reseated them, hoping to reset the thermometer. It said 35.5°. That seemed a bit low - I think it may...

Do you build rather than buy a workbench?

I'm trying to decide between an 8' Craftsman workbench I found for $130 vs. getting a cabinet set at a restore/reclaim place, and making a bench by putting a hardwood surface on the base cabinets (A local place has cabinet sets starting as low as $150.)

100-120 Sears & K-Marts to close doors this next year...

So far, the closest one to me isn't on the list. If it does close, I will miss it. Sears carries many of the name brand clothes I like - Levi's, Dockers, etc. Wal-Mart deosn't carry any brand of clothing I like.

Anyone have a first aid kit in their garage?

I was just thinking the other day that I should set up a first aid kit. I'll put gauze and tape in there, bandaids, and maybe alcohol. I have some Quickclot that I used to carry in my backpack when mountain biking. I hope I never have anything happen that would need that, but I could throw...

    Do I Need A Vent?

I would use it maybe 1 - 1.5 hours a day. My pan would be to turn on the AC maybe an hour before I was going to use it to cool it off a bit, and turn it off when I'm finished.

    Do I Need A Vent?

Yeah, I guess that would be the best route. I think this might be a future project. Although I might put a celing where there's beams (not sure what they are called) going across the garage, about 5 feet from peak of the roof. So, don't even bother with an AC if there's no insulation? So...

    Do I Need A Vent?

I have a detached garage, about 13X17' (see my avi.) There is no drop ceiling and no insulation in it. My main use for it is a home gym. I plan to eventually set up an AC and an electric heater. Should the garage have venting? I noticed there is a hole in one corner, where the roof meets...

    Setting Up Wiring for Lighting

Thanks, guys! The outlet in the rafters already has a switch to it. I may just run all of the lights to it, even though 2 will be blocked if the door is up.

    Setting Up Wiring for Lighting

I'm guessing no one replied, as this is probablly a simple question for most people? I realize that hard wiring the lights into a circuit is probablly the best option. I'm just wondering if I can do it with the one outlet. I'd rather not have to pay an electrician if I don't have to.

    Setting Up Wiring for Lighting

I am fixing up my garage for a home gym and occasional workspace. It's a detached garage, about 17X13' (see my avi.) Originally I was thinking of putting up 2 4' T8 fixtures with 4 bulbs each. However, after reading through this forum, I think it would be better to spread the ligthing out...

    Hello

Hello from Baltimore Hey, I'm Jeff. I recently bought a house that has a stand alone garage. The main purpose of it will be my home gym. But it will also be a work area. I won't be parking anything in it, since I no longer drive and sold my car. I've done a number of searches to find info...
