    Draining the Compressor

I was reading the manual for my compressor today and it says that I should empty the tank daily. How many of you out there are draining the tank each time? Is it really that necessary?

    hello from ireland ideas needed

Welcome to the board donegal. There are a ton of ideas in the "Garage Gallery" section on this board so I would suggest using the search function to find what you are looking for. I think your request is a little too broad for now.

How close in size are SAE & Metric?

If you use Excel, you can use this formula: =convert(**,"mm","in") or =convert(**,"in","mm") Where ** equals the value you want to convert. For the example of 1/2"; =convert(1/2,"in","mm") gives you the value of 12.7

    Amazon...THE tool source during recession?

I've made two good purchases (at least I think so) on Amazon in the last two weeks: 1. An IR231C 1/2" Impact Wrench for $99.23 including shipping and 2. An SK 74251 1/2" Torque Wrench (25-250 ft-lbs) for $108.36 with shipping

    Helmet Storage

I was wondering how everyone is storing their helmets. I have motocross and full-face street helmets that I would like out of the way but haven't seen anything I like yet. In total, we have 2 street helmets and 5 MX ones. Pics would be extremely helpful.

    Cornwell Tools?

My uncle owns a Cornwell truck and I've looked at every tool on it. Everything is excellent quality and he uses them all the time (7 cars, 2 trucks, boat, trailer, etc.) and swears by them.

    Craftsman 260 Tool Set

If you buy something brand new, it needs to be perfect. When you buy it used, you factor in the normal wear on it and deal with it. Imagine if you bought anything new and noticed faults right away; a car, TV, computer, etc. Wouldn't you want it perfect?

Torque Wrench Max Force (150 or 250)

I am in the market for a 1/2" torque wrench and I am finding most of the max torque settings on them are around 150 ft lbs or 250 ft lbs. I will be using it for mostly automotive work so I am wondering what cases will be needed for 150+ of force. My truck needs 140 ft lbs for the wheels but I...

What should I do with my low quality tools?

I was in the same boat awhile back when I started buying better tools. Fortunately I kept them all and they really came in handy when I got into riding quads. Now I have a spare set of tools for the toy hauler so I can work on my quads out in the desert without emptying my tool box every trip.

    In The Market: Cordless Drill

I've had the Dewalt 14.4, 1/2" Drill for 4 years now and have had no problems with it at all. The batteries last a good length of time and since there are two of them, I just keep the other on the charger for the longer jobs.

Maglite Bulb Died, replace with Xenon or LED Upgrade?

I have the 3D Maglite and upgraded to the LED bulb and was so happy that I did. The light is much brighter and the color is MUCH whiter (is that a word, "whiter?"). My friend has the same flashlight and we compared both brightness and color and he bought the LED upgrade the next day after he...

Where to find air hose reel (w/o hose)

I've been doing a lot of searching for an air hose reel along with a 50', 3/8", 250psi hose but can't seem to find a good combination of the two. The hoses that are usually included are cheap, PVC style that I would probably end up replacing anyway. I will most likely be mounting the reel on...

Deep or Standard Depth Impact Sockets

Thank you all for the quick replies. It looks like I will start off with a set of deep sockets (metric and SAE) first and buy the standard depth sockets when funds become available. Thanks again everyone.

Deep or Standard Depth Impact Sockets

I'm going to start up my impact socket collection and was wondering what people use the most or what they suggest; deep or standard depth sockets. They will all be 1/2" drive and used with an IR231C impact wrench. What are the type of applications where you would definitely need one or the...
