You are correct it is a 30 space panel, Was a main breaker not required back then when this box was installed? Does anyone have an idea about the #1/#3 breaker that is looped? I am learnin more about this stuff as ya'll make comments but i cannot even imagine what is up with that breaker/circuit

thanks guys for clearing some of this up, Naq: if my welder was running at max 50A plus the lights on at 15A and a radio playing that would be the max i can run by myself at one time so i think that like pattenp said the 60A shold be plenty sufficient. I think it is time to start pricing stuff...
