    26 x 43 Jokers garage build

Well I passed my final inspection last week. Only about a year after I got it! I had to add a separate ground bar to the existing house 100amp panel, and change out a few outlets to make the inspector happy. I still have a few things left to wrap up with the garage. The short list is getting my...

Numbers are approximate, but it was like 18 yards foundation, 16 yards slab. Driveway was done in 4 sections. 6 yards, 7 yards, 6 yards, 8 yards. So somewhere around 61 yards :) Concrete cost around here is around $108 per yard. I paid a little extra to have fiber mesh put in the driveway concrete.

I am sitting pretty good with electrical. Last week the power company came over and we switched the house to be running as a sub panel from the garage 200AMP panel. I still need to switch around neutrals in my house panel and then will be ready for a final inspection.

Yeah that is one of the benefits of having a double deep garage. I will be able to fit the lift in the back left corner when funds allow. I did not have to do anything fancy with the garage door hardware in order to have room for the lift. I feel like 26 ft width is a great size for 2 vehicles...

    26 x 43 Jokers garage build

As of last month I have the majority of my sheet rock up. We knocked out both long walls and a few sheets on the front. I am holding off on doing the back wall until I have my gas line run for a future furnace. The place feels a lot more sealed up with adding the sheet rock. This marks yet...

The house is still original painted wood and it is actually in pretty good shape. I am planning to reside the house with the same siding I used on the garage. I dont see myself wanting to paint this house for the rest of my life :) I also have many windows to replace and the shingles on the...

    26 x 43 Jokers garage build

In January I spent a lot of time getting the house attic ready for insulation. this meant I needed to build some elevated storage, plumb a bath fan exhaust, run wire for future projects, and swap out old recessed lighting for modern fixtures and can lights. Our local utility company has a...

I used up the last above freezing week we had with swapping the transmission in my truck. It was time consuming but all in all went pretty good. The junkyard one I put in the truck is still running great. I had scored some used insulation from a job site that my dad was remodeling. I was able...

Yeah the 11% ends up being a great deal! I am lucky to have a Menards 3 miles away from my house and another one 5 miles away from my work.

For my electrical layout I ran the following (1000+ ft of 12-2!) - 1 Circuit for interior lights. These are split into 3 switches. One for each bank of 6 standard fixtures. - 1 Circuit for exterior lights. These are split into 3 switches. Left side has 5 can lights, right side has 3 can lights...

Thanks! Its a great feeling pulling around the corner on my way home and seeing the garage. I planned on having it done way sooner than what it took but it was still quite the accomplishment. Even though it is never really done.

I do not think they are very common around here. I went with this style to match the house. I feel like going with the 9' height looks a bit more to scale for a 12' ceiling height garage. The 9' height cost me, but it was worth it.

We poured the 4th section of driveway in the middle of October. It went way easier going with a 5 inch slump. Ended up running a bit short towards the end of the existing driveway which I was widening by 2 feet. I knocked the last little bit out with 11 bags of quickcrete and my cement mixer...

Well... I had so much going on over the past few months that I have neglected posting my progress. I have been sidetracked with everything from getting my house attic ready for insulation, to replacing a transmission in my truck. Oh and my house furnace went out two days before I planned on...

    Natural Gas pipe sizing

Well I finally got around to ordering the 1 1/4" line and risers on Friday. I was also able to clean up my trench and get it dug up to both buildings just before the freezing temperatures got here. Here are the pics of my meter. I should be able to T into the galvanized line before the rest of...

    Natural Gas pipe sizing

I found a local place that has 1" for cheaper, but the price jumps up when you go larger. 1" pipe .65 per ft 1-1/4" .93 per ft 1-1/2" .99 per ft 1" flex riser $45 1-1/4" flex riser $79 1-1/2" flex riser $104 I think the steep price change is because this place only stocks 3/4" and 1". Ill...

    Natural Gas pipe sizing

Well.. I found a concrete patio under my paver patio where I was planning on trenching to the house! Looks like its on to plan B. I will either try wrapping around the big tree to the meter, or go between the trees and drop in below the picture window. Even the most conservative chart I...

    Natural Gas pipe sizing

If pulling off the 1-1/4" would not starve my existing home furnace then I would not be opposed to pulling off of it. I was worried that the unused 3/4" line was already diminished in strength by being after the T for the 1-1/4" line, and on the same T as two other appliances. When calculating...
