Never had a Morgan before, I'll go check it for smoothness damage today hopefully. Maybe talk down to $120? Seems kinda steep but it does seem pretty large.

I have 2 Morgans, a newer one that I got for $40 (that still lists for close to $400 online)

& an older one with a swivel base that looks similar to the one you pictured for $25 from an estate sale 2 weeks ago.

Both of them are *40's* with 4in wide jaws... & if I were to sell either one they would be at least $200 each.. & neither of them looked like they do in these pics when I got them...

I've got a Cman 4.5" mechanics vise a BF Japan one. I wouldn't mind having a large machinest vise for a decent price. But they seem to be few and far between down here. This one is just a few mins from work. I guess i'll assess the condition and see if we can't work on price.

Looks like a 6" from where I'm standing. If it's crack-free they clean up rather nicely:

So I have a large Hollands, and I took a couple measurements. 6"jaws, about 10" across the base front to back (non swivel) and about 30" overall with a 13" handle.

Looking at the pallet he has it on, I'd GUESS that the boards are 1x6" Therefore we are looking at 5.5" on the boards with about a 3" gap between them. (still guessing) The Morgan goes across 4 boards and 3 gaps, 22" + 9" = 31" long overall. That makes me think its a 6"

Using the same logic to guesstimate the base, it covers 2 boards and 1 gap. 11+3= 14 inches. My base on a 6" non swivel is 11. That makes me think that they REALLY beef up the base to make it a swivel or it may in fact be an 8"

The handle is hard to guesstimate but I'd guess it is much larger than 13" like mine and would point to being a larger vise too.

HOpe this didn't confuse the issue too much, I hope its an 8" but I think its a 6". Like Mjozefow said, if its a 6" and you don't have one its an okay deal. If its an 8" BUY IT NOW!!!

Yea that handle does kinda make me thing twice. I couldn't get a hold of him this afternoon so he's gonna measure tomorrow and I'll check them out tomorrow hopefully. That wilton looks like an overseas one. Doesn't give any details about the 4" he has. Just have to see. Wouldn't mind doin alittle resto.

The more I look at it, the more I think it is a 6". The handle on an 8" vise is usually 1" round or bigger. Still a nice 145lb piece of iron though. After taking A_P's apart, I can attest to their solid build quality.

My concensus as well. Hopefully I can look at it this afternoon, and if decent, can work on a price.

Well finally got to look at it today and picked it up. A 6", its def. been around the block but it gives it more character :)

What a beast though, I didn't even tie it down. Never moved.

Next to my 5.5 dwarfs it. And a Yost 33C

Glad I put on the steel toes to move it. It almost didn't make it onto the table.

Got it for $100. Shoulda gone lower as he was just looking to get it out of the way. Say it was in the shop he bought whenever he started his business.

The handle is pretty pitted and looks like a few layers of flaking paint. Now to build a blasting cabinet.

That'l clean up real nice, the swivel base one I pictured was in worse condition than yours :)

& they do look good in blue, even if the shade I used is a tad lighter than original.

Nice and looks like a reasonable deal. I would have paid that for it, still need to find the really big vise score. Biggest I have so far is my 46 lb Reed 1C.

Thanks! The blue does look pretty sharp, as well as that grey. What would be a factory color? Or something that could match to?

I'm kinda glad its not a show vise, she'll def. get some use when I'm done. Jaws still line up perfectly. I'll be sure to throw up pics along the way.

What are the thoughts on replacing swivel handles? Ones pretty bent.

Betwen those two, the Morgan is USA Made. If the width of the jaws are 4 1/2" + and are replaceable jaws and in good condition, yeah, I'd go $130-$140 maybe. If the jaws are replaceable and heavily used, a new set of Morgan serrated depending on size could go as much as $60. That would determine my offering price.

Just hammer it straight :)

Blue is apparently the factory color, but just a bit darker than what I used.
This is original paint:
