Dave I am going to guess theres enough holes that you may want to have a mig welder to fill them instead of filling them all with JB weld :D.

I will play along though I am going with 87 :D.

I wish! That would be the ultimate way to go, but this way will also work fine, I know some other guys that have used it. If there is any touch up on the outside I'll be taking care of that with some bondo.

Then a scrub down with alcohol and the primer goes on!

Oh and here is a picture of the saw getting all patched up:

Haha nope, they are just stains in the metal from corrosion. It actually looks a lot worse than it really is.

I'm hoping for nice weather here next week so maybe I can get around to the priming and painting. Might be cutting it close though!

Okay new update!

I found this little guy today:

It is a Porter Cable A2 belt sander. We were needing a belt sander for getting the deck in shape before some sealant, and this will do the trick nicely.

I am getting it all taken apart and cleaned/inspected. It will need a new steel protector plate inside to keep the belt from rubbing the aluminum, but the wear isn't too bad.

And yes, while I am a Craftsman guy, I will say - when it comes to hand power tools, vintage Porter Cable is just about the best of the best. I'll be looking for more:D

Technically it was today when Dave posted this so he could make us all suffer till tomorrow ( Oh the joys of having a newborn in the house and being up between 2 and 3 AM :D ) .

Okay I'm back:)

Wow, so, based on that technicality, I really could wait until tomorrow to tell everyone?

Hmmm...

Well, just call me merciful:D

The Winner Is...

GirlinAgarage!

Actually, I was pretty shocked that only 2 or 3 guesses in, and someone nailed it.

Yep, 28 holes.

Don't believe me? See for yourself:D

GirlInAgarage, pm me an address that works for you and let me know which of the two you would like (rule or snap line) and I'll get it in the mail to ya:thumbup:

This was fun. I'll have to do more of these contests, especially as I find cool vintage stuff at the local ReStores. It was good to start out small, but I see us progressing to even cooler things:)

Congrats, GirlInAGarage.

My first guess would have been 27 until I saw your guess. I guess great minds work alike or just get lucky.

Dang I don't look at this thread for a couple of days and bam i miss out. Well I would have guess in the low teens. Girl in a garage what are you going for, the ruler or string? You will have to fab up a shelf just for it.

It was a toughie to choose but I went with the folding rule. Like I told Red Leader, my simple brain has always been mesmerized by them :D

Congrats to GirlinAgarage - I'll try to get that rule out soon!

I dunno what surprises me more, the fact that it was guessed so soon, or the fact that a human being drilled 28 holes into a perfectly good cabinet saw.

Rick - unfortunately, the quest continues for the elusive scroll saw. I appreciate you checking in with your buddy though. That appears to be a 103.23151 type scroll saw.

However, I have some very good news. Not about the garage. About what goes in the garage. Something from 1950 and 1957 will be joining the garage shortly.

Any guesses? Maybe someone can win the chalk snap line too:D

You'll know in 2 days (Friday).

Sorry to leave everyone hanging (actually it is kinda fun) :D

Let's just say it has been a very good week for the 1950s Craftsman Garage.

Hi RED.

I was looking for some ideas for my own garage project and happened upon this post. I have read over it a few times. First let me congratulate:thumbup: you on your baby.
Next your garage build is very impressive as are the people who are commenting on your Thread.
I have been building my Project, a Honda Bobber for the last 3 years. but due to commitments to work and family, things pertaining to garage hobbies have a way of making it on the back burner.
That said I will have some time this winter to work on my Garage. I have built a work bench and shelves. I was looking for some ideas to pull and have found so many ideas on the garage Journal.
I am writing on this thread to you because it was your thread that made me join this Group. I hope to post my own pics soon.

Very cool keep up the great work man!
