I hear ya. While I am jonesing hard for that 56" @ $700, I would be content with the 42" in crinkle finish at a heavily reduced, clearance price.

I am going to wait a little longer. If no such clearance happens, so be it. $350 seems to be a reasonably occurring price, hopefully that will continue with the gloss version.

i have a feeling they will not be doing the sales nearly as much as they have in the past. If the black 13 draw is any indication it is always $599, i dont think is goes on sale and if it does its very rare. I will say the wrinkle finish grows on you fast. I have 2 13 draw bottoms, 2 tops, and 3 tall side cabinets with one of them in the middle connecting everything....i have no buyers remorse knowing they are coming out with gloss red

The Home Depot's around me are blowing out a 9 drawer Black 52" box for $298. They were evidently brought in around Christmas and are not a normally stocked item. I picked 4 up this week.

I would not hold my breath for a clearance sale of the old boxes. HF has turned into a dictatorship when it comes to good prices (perhaps they got it from the country who supplies their products).

The other thing is that since the new gloss box has a different SKU# I do not believe anyone has any coupons for that box yet, so they may hold on to realeasing any coupons for the new boxes until the old ones are gone.

I think I will wait out to check the new boxes before I decide on anything, with the HF sale of the old boxes for $349 without any coupon starting tomorrow, hopefully they will sell enough to clear the way for the new ones.

I wouldn't be surprised if they released this new box with no intention of releasing a coupon for it, keeping the current box at the same price with coupons until the stock is depleted. Then they have a line of boxes at retail price with no coupons.

I've never seen a coupon for the larger pro box.

A coupon for $100 off the "pro" box went out in email about two weeks ago.

Like others have said, there is a $100 off coupon out there for the 56" box. I personally (my opinion) do not think there is ANY possibility whatsoever they will not release a coupon for the new gloss box, unless they lower the official retail price.

At $599 there are certainly many more boxes to choose from (Craftsman, Montezuma, Gladiator, Masterforce, Husky, etc) and eventhough their box is good quality, there is no way they can compete with all those at that price point.

HF has always had a gloss black version of the 13-drawer box, but it has never been discounted that I know of. I don't see it listed any more on the web site. Let's hope they haven't just substituted the gloss red for that gloss black, at the higher price.

This link used to go to the gloss black 13-drawer cabinet. Now it is a dead end . . .

I did a little looking into this today and have come to my own conclusion that the new gloss red 13 drawer may be replacing the old gloss black 13 drawer that nobody ever had in stock and never went on sale----the link Steevo posted above shows the gloss black one nowhere to be found on the website anymore, and I couldn't find it through a manual search.
The item number for the new gloss cabinet is 68784. I called my local store and they had none in stock, none coming, but they said the warehouse has them so you could buy it online (which means $97 overweight freight charge:(). So I looked through my coupon stack and sure enough, all of the coupons I have in my last couple months of car magazines for the 13 drawer cabinet list both items 90320 (wrinkle red) AND 68784 (gloss red). I just went online and added the gloss red cabinet to my cart and tried to apply a $359 coupon.....it worked. So final price after coupon, tax & shipping is $497.....so $100 more than the wrinkle unless they become regular stocked items at some point in the future.

Seems that they are already regularly stocked items - as people are already reporting buying them at their local stores. For $349.99 this weekend as well.

I think I read somewhere on here where someone reported seeing a gloss top box. What about a side 7 drawer or locker though?

I just tried entering a coupon online that is good until Feb. for the box using the gloss part number and it said the coupon was not valid. The gloss part number is on the coupon along with the krinkle finish box. Dammit!

like others have said, the new gloss red box is probably a replacement for the black one. It never goes on sale. They will keep selling the crinkle red one at the discounted price

question for you all that have this box......is there any securing method for each drawer without locking the entire box.

i mean....if you roll the box around with the unit unlocked will the drawers come open?

The box has plastic/rubber detents for the drawers that keep them closed

****, now I've got to go out and buy the crinkle ones ASAP before they get replaced with the glossy. I must be the oddball that can't stand glossy red.

Just got back from the Evansville IN store. None of the gloss red in stock, but they did try and tell me that the gloss red was being phased out and the crinkle finish was the "newest" finish! I even showed her the hf website with the different item number and the "picture coming soon". I just left, I could not figure out a polite way to deal with that!

Depends on the incline of the ground and how much weight is in any particular drawer. I have one drawer with a lot of weight in it that will open on the slightest incline. All others stay closed.

LOL.

I have yet to meet a HF employee (or even HF manager for the matter) that is fully aware of what is current, what is being phase out and what is comin to any of my local stores.

They know what they have on hand, and several of my local check-out "girls" often recognize me enough to push and pull coupon deals or have someone on the floor double check and pull and item to make sure what the code reads is verified against the itme in the box.

After all this and even this site, they only know itme #'s and it is best advised to open a box before leving the premisises or parking lot to ensure what you bought is what you got.

I;ve educated many an employee that way. :)
Sadly.

Oooh if they release a gloss top box, I'll put it on my HF 56" roller and just the extra foot as junk storage space or a small work surface :)

I think that is what I am going to do....I have a NIB Craftsman gloss red 42" top box that's been aclimating to the garage for about a year.

I think I am going to buy the HF 56" roller cabinet and put the Craftsman on it. the Craftsman box has a full-length drawer that is 4-1/2" tall on the bottom. Putting that on the 56" box will make two long, tall drawers for sockets. As would putting the top box on a 42" roller cabinet.
