Wow, I have signed up recently and been lurking but just had to comment. Fantastic garages you have there!

Thnx.

Great collection Amazzen! Very nice set up too, might I have met you last summer at Steve Plunketts place with the Batmobile?

Thanks Chris, No...haven't made it to Fleetwoods yet, but I do have a good friend in London that attends in Batman garb for the kids. He's finishing off his Batmobile as we speak for the big car show there next month.

Wow, this just keeps getting better!!

Damn, I could live like that! What an amazing shop, and car collection. Wow.

Thanks guys, I'll eventually post the pics of everything and I have to admit...its been a mini project posting this much already.

Your interest and kind comments make sharing this a true pleasure.

Last but not least I wish to thank the folks of Garage Journal for a wonderful Community that you've created.

Close, 1955 Lincoln Futura (Ford Concept Car).
George Barris bought it from Ford in 1965 for $1 and transformed it into the Batmobile for the 1966 TV Series. (Barris still owns it and its sitting in his SoCal shop!)

Zogman, I'm also admiring your Cougar ragtop, very nice....is it a big block?

Thanks!! It has a Cleveland with a factory 4 speed. Fun car.

I wasn’t jealous of the monster shop space (just more to clean), nor the ice rink (it would cost me too much keeping the ice frozen in FL), nor the Zamboni (without a rink, what would I do with THAT thing), nor all the quality machine tools (plenty of guys on here have those), nor the vast volumes of storage space (that would just make me MORE of a packrat). I wasn’t even jealous of all the wonderful musclecars on the list until I saw that ’69 pace car on the list. Now THAT made me JEALOUS! :)

Seriously, thanks for sharing (and continuing to share) your great compound with us here at GJ. Hopefully you are hooked on this website and hang out with us for many years to come. I especially like the part about dear old dad spending time with you - glad to hear you guys get along so well.

Keep the posts coming! I'm looking forward to many more details being revealed on the buildings, equipment, and cars.

Edit:
(BTW, I do find it interesting that a garage "Superman" chooses to drive a Batmobile. Shouldn't you be flying around or something? :))

I don't know that I have anything NEW to add, but I now know the following things to be true:
1) You win. No really. I'm done, no competing with that. You HAD me at the Zambonie, but then you had to go and pull out the multiple Chargers, GTO's, and the FRIKKEN BATMOBILE!!!!:3gears::bowdown:

2) Previously, I thought OldCarGuy, Utah997, and/or BB767 had nice places. No more. They're just squirrels trying to get a nut in YOUR world.

3) I could not think of a better way to measure "success" in retirement. Well played, sir!

Paul ,

Thanks for taking the time to post so many detailed photos of your stunning property and cars. The Daytona is amazing. You are quite the inspiration and motivation to get out of the dirt floor shack I currently call my "shop".
Thanks again.

Bruce (how appropriate),

Since you asked for it, I'll let the "Bat out of the bag"...

My favorite however was....."To the Batmobile...." and its even cooler when you can actually do it!

Thanks for all the kudos, especially the sarcasm...I'm definitely getting the warm and fuzzy! :drink:

This calls for a few more pics...

56 TBird....

thunderbirdapril2610014.jpg

Pedal car was restored before completion of full scale Bat...

feb42010005.jpg

One of the first British made phone booths restored into a curio cabinet (weighs a ton...literally).
My other thought was to put a full size Superman mannequin inside (I'm still thinking about doing that one day)...

I'll turn on the lights and grab some more photos asap...

Love the fact you have one of our 'phone boxes in there, that doubles the coolness of your garage :D. There is a guy in a town near me that seems to collect them, has about 20 in his garden!

That is insane. :rocker::bowdown:

Seriously, what did you do in life to obtain all that awesome stuff and retire at age 53???

yeah, seriously, I now realize I've done something really wrong with my life..lol

I'm still speechless at your place, just simply mindboggling, and so damned functional to boot.:bowdown::bowdown:

Actually 51, but who's counting?

All I did was..... work hard for about 100 years, sacrifice spending time with my young family, have a great wife and be a good Christian whenever I could.... this rest was just dumb *** luck! :)

'A Shop Soliloquy'

And here I sit,
trying my wit,

on my couch;
a lazy slouch. :Homer:

Having just read
Amazzen's thread,

'tis now I feel
his can't be real. :wtf:

I know my shop
is filled with slop,

I can't compete
with one so neat.

I've much to do,
to have as you,
but now I'm blue;
so sad, BOO-HOO.

As the bard might have said,
"Overcome with dread,
he went back to bed!"

Incredible preview, Amazzen. I say preview because there's so much I'm sure that hasn't been shown.

I have a feeling that you've got some neat tools, too. Any vintage stuff? Any restorations of machinery in your shop?

As well, to the guy that's got an incredible to-do list, what's the dream project you haven't gotten your hands on yet? Anything slip through your grasp that you still wish you grabbed or had?

Over the last five years (I'm 35) I've started accumulating the vehicles and projects I've dreamed about. My total is at 4 and I've got a few more on my list. Soon I'll get back into getting the list checked off too.

One last question, is there anything you've sold? Or do you just keep them after they're done.

You've got a great hobby, congrats on working hard and retiring at a young age.

Yes, I'm working on that.

No real vintage stuff. Closest thing I have is an older Harig surface grinder that I moved out because of its limited use.

As well, to the guy that's got an incredible to-do list, what's the dream project you haven't gotten your hands on yet? Anything slip through your grasp that you still wish you grabbed or had?

Came soooo close to owning a 69 Camaro ZL1 about 20 years ago....missed it by about 1 hour!...
nutkick.gif

Muscle car wise, I wouldn't mind a 70 Chevelle LS6 Convertible, 69 Boss 429 and 69 ZL1 or Yenko Camaro.

Dream car aquisitions would be a 48 Tucker or a Duesenburg because of their incredible historic significance.

Over the last five years (I'm 35) I've started accumulating the vehicles and projects I've dreamed about. My total is at 4 and I've got a few more on my list. Soon I'll get back into getting the list checked off too.

I'm sure I started hunting around 30 years of age too.... my advice is to be selective and buy only what you really want not just because its a "deal". Spend your money on buying projects and putting them away until you have the time. Finding great projects gets more difficult over time and more $$$.

One last question, is there anything you've sold? Or do you just keep them after they're done.

The only thing I've sold is a 99 Viper GTS I ordered new in 1998, it had 800 miles on it (mostly put on by my son) and it just didn't turn my crank. Nice car, but I didn't restore it so out it went. (no regrets). Besides it always helps to collect appreciating assets versus those that depreciate.

You've got a great hobby, congrats on working hard and retiring at a young age.

Thanks Brent and good luck to you as well.

Amazzen,

You need a 1969 COPO Chevelle and a 1970 Buick Stage1 in your collection.

Great stuff, thanks for being so kind and sharing your passion with us.

You have some great cars in the stable for sure. I love the phonebooth! I have been looking for one to put in my place for a while now.
Nice to meet a fellow Camaro guy, I have a '69 SS350 convertible I have been working on (well have'nt touched it in the last 4) years.
I also have a 2010 2SS/RS, where all of my attention has been for the last few years. I have it up to 702 horses to the rear wheels and a full suspension mod, she can do a 10 second quater mile and hit 1.38 G's on the road course.

Tell me more about the Camaros, are they restored to stock like new, or resto-modded?

Thanks Ross, a good friend of mine imported 2 from the UK years ago and I was fortunate that he only wanted to keep one of them.

This was the last (possibly the only) working location it was removed from:

I appreciate the help Dan... Showed this to my wife and she said "to do what I want". After 30 years of marriage, I decipher the code to mean "don't you dare"!

Maybe Ross can hook you up with his neighbor for the phone box?

69 Camaro's (RS type) are my favorite. My RS/SS Conv has been restored other than wheels and a 502 GM crate motor upgrade. Its a cute car with just enough giddie up.

pict0666qz4.jpg

69 Z28/RS is undergoing a total original resto.

69 pace car will also undergo an original resto.....some day.

Also waiting to paint my 76 Camaro (I'm replicating my first new car. Well almost...as it was after I hopped it up a little)

Here's my project the way it sits right now

253rh.jpg

Here's what my actual car looked like in 1977

starskycamarooooona7.jpg

Here's the new 450hp stroker that's going in. I will try and keep the engine bay as stock looking as possible and probably postpone the stripe treatment for now. Not an investment car, but its something I've wanted to do for a while now.

img00202201108161613.jpg

They say you can't go back in time, but I do.....everytime I go into my showroom!

Hope you get back to those Camaro's of yours soon enough.

Whoooops, sorry Ross.

For the record though, I would consider you my neighbour no matter how far away you may be. The GJ is a far reaching Community! :)

Cheers,

Paul

But its a bit far for me to come to work on my Land Rover though :D

Does this make me a jealous neighbour? :dunno: :bounce:

seriously, GJ has that effect, putting people in contact that share a love of all things garage/hanger/shed. Whether it contains a plane, car, truck, bike or 4wheeler we all have stuff in common :)

Wow, you have very good taste in 69 Camaros! I really like the color!
My 69 is a carbon copy of yours sans the RS package, it has a 458 hp 382 stroker in it.

Isn't that funny....you even have the cowl hood. (I opted for that look, but kept the SS hood just in case)

I'm partial to Blue.... its a GM thang..... I think :headscrat

Oh c'mon Amazzen...it this all ya got?? Just kidding...."impressive" is horribly innadequate to describe your shop-n-stuff.

I've spent a lot of time in Toronto and I'm thirsty as we speak for a Sleemans Cream Ale...Can't get it down here...
