Just when some may think I have enough toys, along comes that old defective gene of mine... I just purchased the entire contents of an antique car restoration shop! I have already taken four trips with my 22' car hauler and need one more to pick up the rest. Included are a collection of twenty years of nuts & bolts of every size shape brass to grade 8, brass fittings, springs, clips, Lots of Brass Era & Alemite grease fittings, hoses, gaskets,,, you name it. Along with tools and equipment pictured below, and a 5 HP axial fan for my paint booth.

Acetylene tanks complete with hoses, gages, brazing rod and silver solder.

WOW

Every picture is just awesome!

I have some jackstands like that, are those Snap-On? I have two sets, one made by Lincoln and the other is NAPA branded but obviously made by Lincoln.

So, does this mean that your next thread is going to be "OCG's latest shop expansion build" so you have room to house this latest haul? :D

It's all about having the cash when such an opportunity presents itself.

Oh and I have to say a big thumbsup to all of us for some seriously good scores lately. I don't know if its the economy or just the time of year but people are unloading some nice tools lately and helping pad out collections! :)

Sad but true,,, money talks! Someone else offered him nearly what I paid for the whole shebang,, just for the Snap-On tool box and its' contents. But couldn't come up with the cash. I drove him to the bank on Saturday and handed him some fresh $100.00 bills...

I have known this gentleman that owned this antique car restoration shop for 25 years. His restorations would easily win first place in any competition. He was known for his work on high-end cars like Packard, Stutz, and Rolls Royce in the 1930's. He wanted a career change and move to California to become a Curator of a museum. Just to get away from all the dust and chemicals involved in restoring cars.

No I'm not planning to expand my shop. I will sell off most of the larger equipment that I already have. Except I'll upgrade the duplicates and sell off the lesser.

The contents of the Snap-On tool box became a total disarray in moving. And the drawers need to be removed in order to open neighboring ones. When I'm finished I'll post pictures.

Wow. Another great haul. You have so many tools it could take months to master how to use all of them.

Hey, any chance we might get another drag race amongst all your compressors now that you have that fancy SO one?

Wow awesome score:bowdown: Care to disclose how many crisp $100 bills changed hands. I understand if you keep it to yourself though.

Nice haul on the goods!

I'm glad to see you finally got some Snap-On hand tools and tons of other great equipment; I'm curios to see what your opinion of them end up being! I always have respect for you opinions and that being said.... yours on your "new" Snap-On tools will be of personal interest to me! :) Beautiful stuff all around.... kinda sad to hear the guy is dropping it all and stopping his lifetime of restoration work, I guess there is a season for everything; you of all people deserve to be the recipient of his top end shop equipment! It is also nice that you were able to have the money at the right point in time; when this deal was available to you! So many deals we all seem to run across just aren't the right "moment" when all the planets are "aligned" but they all seemed to be set just right for you! Who can argue with all this Snapon and high end tool goodness? :)

I'm sure that I'll be selling off the duplicates. And will place them in the classified section.

I have been using Craftsman hand tools almost entirely all my life. Old habits are hard to change. Since I came into all these Snap-On tools, I'm interested myself how they compare to Craftsman.

Nice, I can see why someone offered him a pile of money for that tool box. Just that side locker shows how much time and money this guy had into his stuff.

What about the non-tool stuff like bolts, parts and such. That tool box is cool but its the other stuff that should make the deal.

WOW!!! How big is that tap and die set for? I swear I see 4" marked on the label!??? Wow... not to mention I see that a standard s/o tap and die fits nicely INSIDE that other kit? Awesome.

Man thats alot of good looking quality tools... certainly a body/restoration mans stuff I'd say. Very very nice haul!!

Pretty much everything is top of the line quality tools! I'm sure you will put them to good use and they will be a pleasure to use! Some time in the future; I would love to hear an assessment of the Snap-On brand in your humble opinion, once you spend some time using them! Congrats! A really great set of tools! :)

If you decide that you don't want the Snap On OEXL long combination wrenches, please keep me in mind. I have been looking for a set for a while, but just haven't found them yet.. thanks Junk...

It’s been almost a year since this purchase. And I’m still not finished going through all the neat stuff included in this purchase! Just keep coming up with something new that I didn’t remember being included... It's actually been a lot of fun... :)

Any more insight or assessment of your Snap-On tools; after using them for a year? This probably sounds redundant but "inquiring minds want to know"! :)

Actually I posted my findings about SnapOn tools this past April. SnapOn verses Craftsman Tools... My Take.. But after a year's worth of hand's on experience, I have become very fond of their tools. In my opinion, the quality of SnapOn’s exceeds that of Craftsman’s. They have flawlessly smooth chrome plating, thinner to get into tighter places, and grab fasteners better. I have become spoiled using them,, they certainly feel right in my hands.

Consequently stumbling upon this acquisition sure made a SnapOn believer out of me... But I’m kind of glad that I didn’t find out earlier in my life. I would have a lot less tools today or I'd be a heck of a lot poorer. On the other hand, Craftsman's tools never let me down. Only a handful ever broke. And when they did, Sears always replaced them without any hassle.
