Here's an odd duck. Think it's made by Morgan. A future restore project. 75 lbs.

I included a couple of pics I got off E-bay of a Morgan Massey. I don't know if it proves anything or not. May be just a coincidence. I'll leave that to the historians. I's a wood worker's vise, so there may be no correlation.

Wished mine had an anvil like yours Mr. ritzblitz. All yours lacks being the total package is a swiveling rear jaw. Now that would be an odd duck on a combo. I'd like to see the schematics on that one.

Found this Wilton on Craig's List for $45...

It's located hour and a half away for me. Do you think it worth going and having a look? What model is it and what questions should I be asking?

Hour and a half is a long way to drive. Aside from the paint that vise is in very nice condition. No abuse whatsoever.

If it were close to me the only question I would be asking is, "When I arrive to pick up the vise should I come to the front door or back?"

Thanks for the advise. Unfortunately, I just called the guy and he sold it a week ago. Oh well, the chase continues.

Don't really have any clues Zoomie; other than they are both Massey's, and the woodworkers vise says Massey Morgan Vise Co. But yea that was the Morgan Vise Co. I was thinking of. There probably is no relation. Your a Morgan and a Wilton man Zoomie. What's the verdict.

A gal only wanted $600 for this Red Seall #66 from American Scale. She sid it weighed 300#, but I think she was trying to make it sound like $2/pound was a good deal.....lol

Was that from craigslist? I recall seeing one about a month ago, but it was a little too far for me. I would say any Hollands is somewhat rare, but that probably doesn't equate to value. It would be a great shop vise though.

Mr. Moose---That is a big *** vise...

With a big *** price...

I'm waxing poetic, again...gotta increase my meds...

(If that vise was in real solid shape, it "might" be a $300.00 vise, but $600.00...I don't know about that...)

IDK anything about it, other than the slide is like a Record, which is cool. I think the cool factor is there if you like collecting them. It'd be worth that to me. I like rare vises. But I clean them up, paint them, and just look at them. I USE my Athols and Columbians that are a dime a dozen.

Just my 2 pennies.

You mean like this Cheney, that has been in the family for something approaching a century:

I wish Athols were a dime a dozen around me. Columbians are definitely a dime a dozen. I've yet to come across an Athol in the North East.

I just picked up a Starrett Athol 614 on the way home tonight. Ugly paint job...wonder if it will fit in a flat rate if you are interested.....

It's not the double swivel factor that's so appealing, cause you can get that on a lot of imports, and a lot of American made vises and they won't bring that kind of money. The main thing is the name, Charles Parker with a double swivel. As far as rarity goes, Blaine or B100 could put you on the money there. All I superficially go by is how seldom they come up for sale. I have two of them and it took 2 years to get them. To put it in my feeble perspective, They come up for sale a little more often than the swivel jaw Wilton. In 2013, so far, combining Craigslist and E-bay I've seen 2 Wilton swivel jaws and 3 Parker double swivels. That still doesn't tell you how many or how few they made. You will have to ask the Gurus. I wouldn't take $400.00 apiece for mine but I wouldn't give $400.00 either. But it's just whatever a person wants, how bad they want it, and how much cash or credit they can come up with.

Your getting close, but you still need a swivel base and the pipe jaws. Find me one like that and I will crown you king of Clampdom.

Check it out closely, and if its in good order with no significant damage, its probably worth that, but not to flip. your at near the top dollar at a guess. If the bench is decent and comes with it, then that is an added bonus.

That full extension pic looks over extended IMO. Both the slide and the screw should be fully engaged.

The silver one with the black base? Ii did NOT sell for $400, it sold for "Best Offer" which means we don't know what he accepted. It was north of a C-note for shipping, so unless the guy arranged for a local PU I'd guess the total was likely 400 or more...

It would not surprise me to see one sell on Eprey for that sort of money in the right market though... I would not pay that, but I do want one, just not that badly...

That happens more and more often...as I get older...

As he said in "Mountain Men" when asked if he'd ever been lost...''Lost...no, but I've been confused for several months..."

Senior Moments...ah, gotta love 'em...

Don't guess this will help at all but Demographic has just about a full page on that brand of vise and three other brands, all made by those Englishters, who by the way made pretty good vises or vices as they call them. There's 4 Parkinsons on that page and a lot of information about English made vice history. It's a pretty good read. Page 363.

No it was not on Craigslist. I got it locally. I googled it with only one hit so I figured it was a little rare..

I want a double swivel too but I wouldn't pay $400 for one ha
