18v Milwaukee fuel circular saw VS. My old 36v Dewalt circular saw.

Now, I've owned my 36v Dewalt kit since 07. It has been rock solid! I really bought it for the circular saw, but the drill and sawzall have been balls out as well. The C/S has saved me so much time and effort, it's worth it's weight in gold. While others are fighting for a power plug and hauling cords up scaffolding, I'm already working and making money. Need to go to a different part on the job site? They send me, as there's not much set up time.

So all that being said, I'm in the process of getting rid of my Dewalt 18v lithium ion system and going to M18 Fuel. I'd like to only have one system, but i'm unsure of this new 18v fuel C/S. In the past, the 18v C/S were total ****. I can't afford not to have one (a good one) in my line up. I'm not sure it's going to have the same torque. Also, the 36v takes the cheap full size 7 1/4 blades and spins them at 4000RPM. The fuel uses the 6 1/2 blades but spins them to 5000RPM.

What do you guys think? Could this new brushless fuel circular take the place of my 36v?

Thanks guys.

Fuel circular saw.

Likes: Light weight. Balance. Easy to handle. Grip is great.

Dislikes: The hype on the net about how great it is. Low power. Overheats the batteries very quickly. Depth of cut.

What can i say guys? I'm pretty disappointed with this saw. For being brand new, i thought it was going to kick ***. You do not get longer run time out of this saw, because it overheats the batteries. Sorry to say, but this saw is a joke on the job site. There is no way it could ever replace my old 36v dewalt.

If i had not got a screaming promo price on the saw, i would be returning it.

Not happy with it at all.

Sorry to hear that. I'm a DeWalt fan so I was pulling for your 36v. I always heard they was like using electric tools. My 18v lith CS with a diablo blade is unstoppable but the 20v will eat its lunch with 3.0 ah batts

Yup, it's the way it goes. So far the C/S is the only bummer. The new sawzall is unreal! If i hadn't used it myself, i wouldn't have believed how good it really is. Both my 18v and 36v XRP dewalts have great power, but they shake everything you're cutting to ****.

The fuel has the same power, but it just cuts through smooth with very little vibration. It's really crazy how fast and smooth it cuts. It's like the saw is hardly working.

Document your battery overheating issue (ie how many cuts, how often it overheats them etc) and send it in to Milwaukee for warranty repair.

I'm a little skeptical of all the Fuel stuff too, I have to wonder if they haven't rushed some of it to market before working out all the problems in all the tools.

Now that you say something the DeWalt sawzall's are a bit harsh in their movement. My hatchet is a lot smoother and it's a Milwaukee

Yes?

Dude you're professional contractor and Milwaukee is supposed to be all about the trades. If you can't actually use the circular saw on the job when other cordless tools do work for the application, something ain't right and Milwaukee should care. Have you contacted them?

My 20v max circ is cutting well. Perfect for my needs as I am doing a fairly significant DIY remodel.

Personally, I'd take it back and get a new one if you can.

Your story about the CS is not consistent with what I've heard, or even with your experience with the other Fuel products. I think you got a lemon. Either that or Milwaukee is gonna have a BIG problem on their hands 'cause a CS is like THE primary tool for construction and that's true whether you're a contractor or DIY'er.

Have you considered the Makita 36v circular saw that takes two 18v batteries?

That thing is bigger than my dewalt. Also, the reason i went with fuel, was to replace 2 systems 18v&36v with one system.

I'll be interested in hearing your experience with the new Saw. And you're welcome.

First saw was a POS. Something was wrong with it. This one is much better. I did manage to overheat the battery tho. But i was cutting for a long time and not playing nice with new saw:p
