They only have a two year warranty. I have a catalog they sent me.

However, I would consider their set of super deep offset wrenches (75 degree) or their slimline wrenches (metric - harder to find) for like $36 I think.

Proxxon isn't made in germany! These tools are scrap in my opinion. Had some proxxon stuff, everything broke!

The ratchet in this offer will drive you crazy, when turning you will automatically hit the head and the ratchet turns to left or right...(take a closer look, no lever!).

If I could choose...Proxxon or the cheap champion set from sears....champion would be my choice!

I am on a Porsche message board based in Germany. I asked if anyone knew where they are made and here is one response.

to my understanding it is a German company. Whether everything is produced in Germany or not - I don´t know.

They are very common here. You can buy them in nearly every hardware store at reasonable pricing.

From the quality point of view I would guess the are at the upper end of amateur or semi-pro tools.
I have a set of sockets and ratchets from them and am quite happy with them. They look and feel rugged and the handles are covered with soft rubber.

Had a Latch-on ratchening wrench from proxxon...felt down...broken (lot of plastic).
Torx Sockets>>> Normal action >>>broken.
Speeder ratchet (Gearwrench) used it 2 times...broken.
3/8 Ratchet ...still working but heavy weight.
The standart (metric) combination wrenches are ok and have a good value.


Anyway, if you ask a german guy, he will give you a good review.
Ask the same person what he think about Snap-On, HAZET, Gedore or Stahlwille....
He will answer "to expensive, you pay just for the name"
In some german boards I had discussions about the quality and most people which are too poor to buy good brands are satisfied. The real pros (mechanics, firefighters, air force technicians) say that these tools are a non buy for them.

Proxxon is too cheap for "made in Germany" and if so...then they would make more promotion with "Made in Germany".
They have a special small box for the car with some FELO screwdrivers and a Knipes Plier...oh I see...seems that the screwdrivers are now another brand.

I found this thread by mistake. Got some Proxxon bits, and got to see some of their stuff face to face. This stuff is cheap, low quality, and as far as where they are made, I found it conspicuous that they actually don't print it on the packing or anything else. That's the first marker they aren't made in Germany, then whether they are made in Taiwan or not is up to debate. What I do know is their stuff is is pretty much licensed, as I've seen them in other stores under different names with a different colored box.

I would pass, having some of their stuff or seeing them. The wrenches are slim, which could be helpful, but there is absolutely nothing professional or industrial about them.

i was using the same set at work last night but with a different proxxon ratchet. seems like cheap stuff to me, id never buy it.

I have their large metric set with their heavy duty ratchets and it is fantastic. I use it all the time on the motorcycles and MB's.:thumbup:

The proxxon ratchet and couple sockets I have appear to be of the taiwanese flavor. They seem to hold up ok though I dont use them much and found them to begin with.
