I just bought a handful of Wurth made in USA vise grips to round out
my box and so I could set aside some for my son. They had the split
pin and 'Made in USA'. I am not familiar with Wurth, but I gather that
they rebranded their merchandise, generally ... are these rebranded
Irwins?

I was looking at some Wurth vise grips online yesterday but couldn't determine COO, did you source those locally or are they an internet purchase?

I picked them up on CripeDistributing's ebay site. They are marked in the description as USA, and the one above has 'made in USA' on the handle, as you can see in the photo.

Is Irwin building Vise-Grips in the USA again, or are these old stock? I still haven't worn out my old ones so I haven't been paying attention.

I'll review them when I get them and have some time using them. I got some NOS Wilde USA vise grips, which were rebranded Irwins from the very end of US production. They were a little mushy in the teeth area, but otherwise nice.

These may be older, if the 09 03 stamp indicates they were made in 2003 (which it may not).

My Wurth vise grips came in today and I was pleased with them. The quality seems good, but I haven't used them yet. Below are some photos comparing the 6" long noses sold by Wurth and those sold by Wilde (made in USA rebrand of Irwin right before they offshored production). I think that both are Irwin rebrands, however.

Wurth appears to have somewhat thicker jaws, which I think are needed. My Wilde pliers had the jaws permanently spread a little when I really cranked on them while adjusting brake drum return springs. Not very happy about that. Hopefully, a little more meat on the Wurth jaws will help avoid that. I probably shouldn't have been prying on the Wilde long nose vise grips quite that hard, however.
