Awhile ago I found that a store called, Home Goods gives away paper "yardsticks" with their names on them. They're black on one side and white on the other. I trimmed the name off and Elmer's glued them to the leading edge of my work bench.

That's a pretty good idea

I'm reworking my main workbench and adding to it by using some metal shelving into power tool storage. The only new part is the light duty woodworking vice.

Oh thanks Jim.
I've not seen the IKEA ones yet.

I thought this was a "fast and dirty" way to do unimportant measurements like cutting new monofilament lines for my weed whacker, etc. Obviously, this is of no real use for anything approaching a precision measurement. Just a little time saver.

Washed the floor, worked on my son's 4 wheeler brakes, did doughnuts w/ said four wheeler while the floor was still wet.

Then went fishing with him for an hour or so.

It was a great day.

I rebuilt my vacuum cleaner (boo)
Watched the floor drain back up and called Urgent Rooter (boo and $$$)
I leveled my big steel bench with the adjoining butcher block bench/cabinet (yay)
I ordered some new Facom screwdrivers because I knew several of my Ergotwists were lost at sea (yay)
I reached into the beer fridge in the butcher block bench/cabinet and grabbed a Tecate followed by another Tecate (double yay)

The 302 had a tendency to go warm when idling. 240 fahrenheit if allowed to.
Now it is steady at about 170-180 fahrenheit.

Did a hack job on an old Dell LCD computer monitor.

The monitor was the secondary display on my desktop system, and it failed a week ago. I could just make out the screen images on the dark screen, so it looked like the display electronics was all fine and it was just the cold cathode backlight system that had died. Turns out the inverter that drives the mini florescent tubes had failed, but a replacement part would cost more than I can replace the monitor for. It's a case of either junk the monitor or come up with a cheap fix. Junking something that I know I can fix offends me, and since we dumped all our old tube monitors before the move from Newfoundland, I have a shortage of monitors.

The Plan: Remove the 2 cold cathode tubes and the inverter board and shoehorn a section of LED strip lighting (left over from the kitchen cabinet down lighting installation) into the cavity that one of the fluorescent came out of. Solder the lead I attached to the LED strip to the internal 12V feed, squeeze everything back together (the LED strip is a bit too big, but I can just get the covers on), and fire it up.

Everything works, but as the LED strip had high brightness LEDs spaced 35mm apart, there's just 9 LEDs across the bottom of the monitor, so the screen does look a bit like it's lit by the row of footlights along the front of a stage, and without a second strip at the top, it's a bit dark at the top. All the connections to the LCD panel are across the top of the screen, and there's no way I'd get a section of the leftover LED strip, into the available space at the top.

Who cares. It'll do as a test monitor for the repair bench. Total cost $0 and a bit of time.

That'll work.

What kind of fans are those?

I cant find a brand name on them. The customer bought the radiator and dual 12" fan from Champion Radiators. But i dont think the fans are made by Champion.

I do not recommend purchasing anything from Champion Radiators or they sister company Leadfoot racing. They dont care about customers.

Check out Tack and Warren in downtown Clearwater. Old time fab shop. Been there since the 50's or 60's. Good buncha guys.

Sold some Audi seats so cleared up some space. Bought the seats for £9 and sold them for £50. I liked the seats and wanted to fit them in my van but they had the wrong runners and they were too good to start butchering to get to fit. Still I like a profit.

Well, I suppose this post should be titled what did you do in your garage over the last 11 days, but who has time to post while fixing 60 years of bad bodywork and rust ? :)

Reminds me of my garage, same Hobart welder, on the same HF cart, and I was just about to stripe the side of my HF 44" similar to your 56". Except...it appears you are actually getting stuff done, while my projects sit idle.
