Just wanted to share a few pictures of the CM tape measure I got this weekend. Damn, CM made some great stuff, It feels great in the hand, looks even better and made in the USA. Too bad those days are gone forever, over a long time ago.

My Dad carried one of those with him everywhere he went. I can remember playing with it in church on sunday mornings.
Wish I knew what happened to that tape.

I'll take the bet! I'm almost certain it's an Evans.

I won't bet against you. I know that LS Starrett was the OEM for tape measures, utility knives and other stuff with the Craftsman name. I think that was in the '80s to maybe '90s. Maybe LB or someone has a better handle on the dates. Anyway, LS Starrett bought out the Evans Rule Company in 1986. Could that have been the beginning of the business relationship between Sears and Starrett?

I recently discovered that a local vendor has a limited supply of NOS Evans and Lufkin tape measure refills. I bought several of them a couple of weeks ago.

Curios as to the cost ? Are they the same price as Harry j Epstein ?

I'm not certain if that was the very beginning of the relationship (Starrett may have provided other tools), but I'm pretty sure the purchase represented the beginning of the tape measure relationship that had existed for many years under Evans.

Mike, please be aware that these are tape measure refills - that's the tape only, with NO case. I'm not sure that was clear in my previous post.

Depending on size, they are typically a couple of dollars each. They are all 16' or less with one exception. There are a few narrow 50' tapes.
