My matco guy showed up with a couple of these on his truck never seen them before and looked kinda interesting, if an of you have used them let me know how you like em..

I think they are made by Titan tools. There is no switch to reverse them you need to turn over and push the drive through.

they didnt sell a lot because at first people didnt know you could push the drive head through ( to reverse the direction) and hence being called TITAN, people thought they would only LOOSEN. haha

RKRFC936 is a direct drop in for the Williams M-52EHA and M-52EHFA. The M-52EHFA (flex head) is 24 dollars and the M-52EHA runs about 18 dollars.

3/8's conversion pics. Sorry about the pics. The T12 lights were cold and flashy.

That's awesome news. My kits are showing up on Friday, I guess it's time to order some more ratchets.

I know the prices you listed are Canadian, but where did you order yours from? Figure I'll shop around...

I'm confused: Are those Williams kits or SO? when I got mine from SO the plate was not part of the kit, was not part of warranty replacement, was not listed in the catalogs, but was available (for a fee) if you called customer service...

lol. BTW, if purolator brings me my SO parts, is it considered a truck tool?
I doubt it anymore than UPS dropping mine off.:D

By the way, how insanely oversized of a box did SO pack those two sets in? I just had a set of vanes for my right angle die grinder show up in a 7"x8"x6" box yesterday. The box weighed more than the tiny bag of what was in it.:lol_hitti

It was a small bubble envelope! Guy comes to my door with what looked like regular mail:dunno:

Alright, took a good amount of pictures at work. These little 3/8" Williams are awesome, I've been using the hell out of them with my mid-length SK sockets.

I don't understand why these converted ratchets are better than stubbies. I like the shape of the FK80. Why the need to build up a 1/4 drive, which appears to be a longer tool? Is head size the issue?

The compact head is the advantage for these, plus the smaller gear makes for a lower back drag ratchet for low tq stuff like under dashes and interior work where you may need the ratchet to run the fastener in.

That makes a lot of sense. I scratched my head a little wondering why I would need 3/8" in an interior, but then I remembered all the specialty bit sockets I have in 3/8" drive. I may have to make one of these gizmos now.

I can see where they would come in handy for other uses, like hard to get to spark plugs and other things like that. To me, it's just another type of ratchet to help me out in a weird situation.

You're gonna have to show this to me. Still not quite grasping what it's purpose is or how its better than a stubby.

The head is the size of a 1/4" ratchet not a 3/8" ratchet. If you have ever worked on a modern FWD vehicle (especially one with a v6) a tool like this may be just the ticket to retaining sanity.

Another thing going for it beside's it's compactness is the light weight.

If you have to reach in or up and odd angles a lighter tool is not as much strain on the arm ligaments and tendons. (something I think about after dealing with tendonitus in both arms for over 15 years. Only recently started feeling like I'm mostly past that...

I got in the habit of using 3/8 drive as much as possible in many places, and the same extends to 1/4" drive, BUT there are two issues with 1/4 drive: limited socket sizes, and I've twisted the drive off of a couple of 1/4" rats.

I just recently found an old set of shorty, 1/2" drive Bog sockets, now I want a similar set in 3/8 drive. Having a low profile socket to go with a low profile ratchet head just makes good sense!

For engine work, a lot of that can be done with 1/4 drive. I think guys are scared they will break it. There are very few bolt heads in these engine bays that require 3/8 drive. You can feed 70ftlbs of torque thru 1/4 drive. And with a short ratchet handle, that's 150-200 pounds of force in your hand.

You didn't read my post? 1/4" has limited sizes (1/2 or less generally, similar for Metric...) and yes, I HAVE sheared off 1/4" drives... Even the breakers.

Oooo, Breakers! guys where are the 3/8 breakers on a 1/4" handle?

I believe Proto has or had one. I know they made a special double head 3/8- 1/2 in a long handle 3/8 ratchet handle, as I have one. Special run for a company.

It's been mentioned on here in a thread before, someone may have posted up a pic of one. I believe I tried to find one or the parts to make it with no luck. The only option available today that I am aware of is from Hazet.

I have these, I think they came from Giots Garage but they are the same as the titans. They are the smooth toothless kind. very good in tight spaces

I thought that too until I got the Proto version. Trust me, a 3/8 in a 1/4 body will make you reevaluate how you use tools, how you live your life, absolutely everything will change. At first you think "what the hell, it's just a tool". Then you realize "wait no, it's not just a tool, it's a state of mind". Only at that point do you take your first step down the path to enlightenment. It probably sounds like I'm underselling it, but I'm not.

Hmmmmmmmm....

I was just watching the Big Lebowski, and reading your post....

I think if I add some Tequila......

They are toothless apparently they are magnetic, I picked up a couple of them last week and so far I am loving them... I think I paid $25 each I meant to take a picture of them next to my stubby 3/8 drive snapon ratchet, I will tomorrow if I get a chance.
