I just join this forum last week after I got these two boxes. the bottom one is a craftsman probably mid 70's and the top is a Mactools. both of them have the locking mechanisms but no keys I wonder if I can get a locksmith to make me a copy for each.

IIRC mine was stamped on the side of the box (left hand if looking at it) not on the back.

Hey All,
Just hit an Estate Sale. Had hoped to find a Pilliod machinist chest that was pictured but alas it was gone.I've never seen one in the wild and this particular estate sale company has had 2 in the past 3 weeks. Of course I've missed them both. But what I did find today was this vintage Craftsman wall hanging toolbox. It measures 31 1/2" h x 19 1/4" w x 5 1/4" d when the doors are closed.
The three screws that anchored it to the block wall were extremely tight,so much so I had to go home and grab an impact driver to budge the screws.
But I got it off the wall much to the dismay of some other customers that would have liked to have bought it. I made sure I had paid for it and took possession of the working key before leaving to get some tools to assist in removal.

Nice score... what'd you give for it if you don't mind me asking? I scored one at a local garage sale awhile back less key for $15.. but it's been painted over a nice turquoise color. Needs a good stripping and cleanup.

My craftsman wall hanger box that someone sprayed.... picked this up for $15 at a yard sale. Needs a key (although I want to replace it with a single pivot handle instead) and obviously I'll probably strip it and respray it or something.

Wow that is so cool. It looks like it's in great shape for the age.

Bought this old Craftsman storage box at a thrift store yesterday. I have not been able to identify it. I have no idea what is was used for.... Any help would be appreciated.

Cool setup FJ432, looks to be real clean. The bottom reminds me of some of the 50's-50's snap on bottom boxes. It's been a long day, but I want to say those are Duplex made boxes. :headscrat:

I made a new discovery on blackhawk tool boxes
They made some odd shaped smaller tool boxes
They had their own distinction (their shape)
They also made their own tool set called the nugget set
It wasn't 3/8 or 1/2 drive it was 7/16

After seeing a box of tools in a buddys museum, I went to work searching out all the info I could both on the net and here on the Journal

Well the stars lined up for me and these two torpedos are on there way to my garage

Don Long... I love those old "bullet" boxes... the early blackhawk stuff was purty for sure!

senlow... nice grab on that Mac upper... what's the date code on it? Is that the "full depth" box that is 18" deep or the 16" version? Love those MB910/920 setups.

Here is another I came across. I can't find this box anywhere on the net. I'm guessing it is late 60's by the Crown Logo. It is about 1/4" too wide to fit on the modern bottom boxes. Anybody have any ideas or model number?

What a score, Don! Those are a couple of the oddest/coolest kits I've ever laid eyes on!

That's sure different. I'm guessing late early 60's cause the earliest box I have is 65 with this logo.

Plus the the drawer pull are located closer to the bottom of drawer front. I'm not sure where they stamped the intermediates. I'm sure there's a stamp somewhere.

That's different. Where are you located? For some reason I have a feeling that was a Canada only model.

That is by far the coolest Nugget set of Blackhawk I have ever seen. What a great find. Nice to know someone will give this awesome set a good home...

I was afraid that one of you guys would ask about the build date. I'm afraid that I didn't look for a date, and now the box is in place and filled. I'm afraid that it will remain a mystery for now. Were these boxes even marked with build dates?

This is a 16" deep box. I've never seen an 18" deep Mac top box from this era.

As much as I don't like twin drawer pulls, that is very nice. Hopefully the inside is as clean as the outside.

The twin drawer pulls are not as practical as the long extruded pulls, but I prefer the old school style of the pulls on this box. I like these boxes so much that I have acquired six Mac boxes from this era.

Yes, it's as clean inside as it is outside. Although I had to remove a couple of crappy stick on calendars from inside the lid.

Hows this one. Im not sure how old this is, but it has been in my basement for at least 30 years. It has never had a tool in it.

To many to list.

Recently got this nice little Blackhawk tool box (that had a number of sockets still in it) from a machine tool showroom that was closing. Any idea on age?
