I wondered if they were stuck in containers affected by the dock workers strike on the West coast. Perhaps now they're finally getting freed up as they deal with the backlogs.

I picked up 6 today, I think I need about 12 more I just had a house built. I have a finished 24×32 garage with only two light bulbs in it I think I want either 8 or ten in it and about 8 in my basement which is unfinished.

Wow... What are you plans for them all? All going in one shop?

My building is 50 x 96.

The front 53' is going to be vehicle/toy storage with just enough light to see what is there.

The back 43' will be divided into 2 shops (43 x 25 each) for automotive and a wood shop. That is where most of the lights will go.

The front part of the building is 14' 6" ceiling. The back part where the shops will be is 10' ceilings.

Interior will be steel.

So I visited my local Costco and could not find these located in the store. Also never noticed a spot on the shelf where they had been. Are these still being restocked on the Costco shelves?

Is the price still the discounted one of $31.99?

In Issaquah, Washington they had a couple of pallets of the lights now in stock. They didn't have them last week or two ago. Seems like the coupon price has past so they are back to close to $40 each.

In Livonia, MI I picked-up my LEDs with the rain-check.

They were not on the floor, but still in the truck.

The manager found them and brought them to me as I continued shopping.

My impression is they are worth the $32 to try out in my garage at home. The construction is light duty and throw-away, should you have problems after the 5-year warranty.

I have already voided the warranty.

The reflector snaps ON/OFF the tube assembly.

I removed the 4 screws holding the end cap closest to the power cord. Here's what the inside looks like. Tubes are not replaceable.

I made my improvement, reassembled, and tested it.

I replace a T8 32W 4100K 4'; this guy gives off comparable, if not a bit more light.

I picked up 14 more today for a total of 20 . I think I am going to do 10 in my 24 x 32 garage and 10 in my 1200 square foot basement.

Too bad my local Costco is 50 miles away. If anyone is near the Mooresville,NC, Spartanburg SC or Charlotte NC store and they have them let me know. I may be able to find someone with a membership.

I need to light up a 12ft wide x 28ft Long work shed.

I put 8 in my 8 of them in my 24 x 32 garage it has a 16 foot door and an 8 foot door I put 6 on the double door side and only 2 on the single door side. Since I don't do much on that side it is just a parking spot. I am not home to see if how it looks now that it is dark.

My garage is so well lit my eyes have to adjust when I turn on the lights. It was about 30 degrees when I got home but has anybody else heard snap crackle and pop noises from there lights?

I installed 4 in my 20x20 garage...blindingly bright. I like it, wife not so much.

I do notice the snap, crackle, pop noises for the first couple of minutes after they are turned on. I've had them up for about 3 weeks and the noise is still there.

Well, that's not very comforting.... I plugged in each of the lights to make sure they all worked on the day that I bought them just so I wouldn't find out 3 months later that any of them were defective by the time I actually got around to installing them. I didn't hear any noises then.

I have 6 of them in my garage and want a few more. Mine make some noises as well when turned on but I believe it is just them expanding from them warming up. Remember they are completely made of plastic and plastic expands and contracts with just the slightest change in temperature.

BTW mine are flush mounted to the ceiling.

That is good to hear that 4 are bright enough for that size. I was worried they weren't bright enough because I see guys buying so many.

20x20 is 400 sq ft that is one per every 100 sq ft.
I have one for every 96 square feet which is basically identical and I am almost on the page that any more would be too much. I used the included wires and i have 10 ft ceilings. I would just aim for about that range or a litle higher but no need to go any lower. I was going to do 10 in my garage my dad talked me out of it so I would have had 1 light for every 76.8 sq ft. which would have been too much i think.

Was at costco in San Dimas today and as I was checking out their tool chests and wasn't really impress but saw a pallet full of the fixtures. Probably pick up some as well since I'm doing a garage to workshop conversion.

I picked up another one to use with my garage door opener. I screwed in an adapter that has a bulb base that screws in the socket and a female plug. Then I ran an extension cord to the wall and mounted the light on the back wall of the garage. I've got a motion sensor opener, so whenever I go into the garage the lights turn on. It works better than I expected.

My only complaint with these lights is the mounting holes. It is just about impossible to get the screws the right distance if flush mounting, and then I can't get them tight. I ended up drilling a hole through the cover to put a screw in from the front. I imagine it is not a problem if using the wire hangers.

For flush mount I just clipped off the metal reflector and drilled a couple holes through that, then screwed it to the ceiling and clipped the light back in. Works great!

I did the same and used a 1/2" thick spacer in the center channel section... ez-pz

I was in the Greenville, SC Costco yesterday, They had at least 100 stacked up front on that isle against the fence when you walk in. $39.99. I might be able to swing by Spartanburg over the weekend but If Greenville has them I'm sure Spartanburg does too. Can't hurt to call them.

I'm not sure I asked this. It was probably in another light thread.

So with these I see they have a long cord. My garage is 12' high ceilings, and it's about 20'x20'. I have two normal light bulb outlets, one over each garage bay that you would normally screw in a single light bulb. I have the 4-1 adaptor so I can 4 CLF lights that put out.

These are roughly the bulbs I'm using:
https://www.1000bulbs.com/product/56749/FC27-S50.html

Says they put out 1800 lumens... so I have 8 of them = 14,000 lumens currently in the garage, which is bright and has been working well for me for about 2 years now, but I still feel like I need more light, certain areas are still dim to me...

Since these lights have a cord, which I'd actually perfer them to not plug into an outlet plus I don't want to see the wires on the ceiling, how would one actually install these or hardwire them? I could take the normal bulb holder down from the ceiling, and install something but wanted to see how people are doing this? Can these be linked together?

Sorry if this is a stupid question but currently, in the garage, I have a light switch, and when flicked it turns on the 8 cfl's I have above via the two normal turn screw in socket of which a normal light bulb goes into. I do have access to the attic above so I can mount or install whatever is needed to make them "flush" and so one doesn't see the cords. I just simply want to be able to turn the switch on and all of these turn on.

I am figuring wiring 5-6.... Two per bay, and then two in front of where I normally pull the cars in so when working on them I don't have to use my current lights, or perhaps like a letter H configuration.

EDIT: If I change my Edison style sockets to power outlets can I then TAP off those power outlets and add two more power outlets so I can add more light? IE: Both Edison style sockets get power when I flick the light switch on, switch those out with a normal power outlet, then tap off those two and add two more. So I would have 4 total outlets that are switched by the existing light switch? Then I guess that would work right?

Such as this?

Thanks much,

I didn't remove anything, I just drilled 2 holes through the reflector about 3" from the plastic ends and then mounted it, when the reflector started to bend up due to the spacing, I backed off, worked great.

Just prowling this thread. I recently got similar lights from Home Depot. I removed a flourescent light from my garage ceiling, exposing a junction box. I mounted a double outlet box, 4 outlets total, to the junction box, and plugged three led lights into the outlets. Wall switch energizes the outlets and turns on the lights.

New to this whole forum...I must say that I got 4 of these at Costco and have only hung one up so far in my basement at the work bench and it is an awesome light. Will be adding one more down there when I build the rest of the bench and two are for the 12x20 garage once I get power run out to it.

Aquired 36 this last week. They are perfect for my use. I ended up using 8 per bay (15x24x8ft) and it's almost too bright, which is just what I wanted. Every tool is well lit, barely any shadows, and at $.70c per day to run (8h) I'm happy.
