Well why does a matching vintage box have to show up for sale?

That's because two is always better than one. Your OCD requires you have a matching one. The toolbox will get pretty lonely if it didn't have a brother or sister. I prefer twins myself. LOL just remember there's cure for tthat vintage toolbox bug.

Well why does a matching vintage box have to show up for sale? I committed to pick it up tomorrow.

Haha, I'm beginning to think this thread is the garage-junkie version of the crazy lady with 33 cats.

Yesterday I added two new "cats" to my garage - and I took the second one only because the seller wouldn't separate them (even after two days of haggling), so I'll have one to unload. I'll get some pictures up when I return from vacation.

So I guess what I'm saying is you're among enablers here. Cats all around.

You won't unload it; Once you go on Vacation that thing will have set down root and it may be the last one to leave the room!

As far as collecting "cats", if you aren't into double digits, I don't want to hear about it... :see:

I actually don't have that many. All craftsman though.

1 - 1960s tan power tool base/tool chest
1 - 1970s red/charcoal power tool base/chest
1 - 1950s rolling tool chest (will have 2 after tomorrow)
1 - 1960s craftsman/Kennedy 526 machinist box
1 - 1950s craftsman box that housed a drill
1 - late 60s craftsman 6500 tool box

The others I sold so I'm good. Haha

Yes, I might have the cat scratch fever. I currently have...
1-vintage 70's snappy roll a way bottom (looking for the top box-rick mears edition type)
1-90's craftsman roll a way bottom
1-2004 craftsman black top box
1-1940s lower craftsman roll away with heritage logo
1-dunlap carry box
1-mid 2000's craftsman carry box
1-climax carry box-mid 60's - 70's??
1-remline top box, date 1959
1-craftsman red and grey top box-early 70's
1-craftsman red and grey mid box-the rarer 2 drawer
1-pressteel roll away-looks identical to a plvmb tool mobile except no plvmb logos or piston rack
1-late 2000's craftsman roll away-grey. The quality difference is very obvious. It only holds my home repair/contractor/ carpentry tools, nothing to heavy

i seem to always hover around 20 or so.
i sell/trade one and the next week i pick up 2:lol:
i think its 23 right now and i'm trying to thin the herd(make room).
the good part is that probably 80% of my boxes are older than me.
please dont make do the real math

And a whole lot of hand carry's.

And that's just the house garage.

The big shop:

I just had to rearrange my shop to get boxes out of the way to get the GTO off the lift and work on finishing up the Mustang (thanks for the help Beat!) so this is off the top of my head:headscrat

Roll Cabs:
SO KRL Triple bay
SO KRA 2 bay
1 SO Taco Cart
Sam's club SS triple bay
SK roll cab
Proto roll cab
Proto "flying lady" tool mobile
Blackhawk roll cab
Remline roll cab

Top Chests:
1 Bonney chest
2 SO chests
4 S-K chests
2 Plomb chests
2 Proto chests
1 large Cman chest
1 Blackhawk chest
1 Remline chest w/mid
1 Dunlap chest
2 Cornwell chests
2 Huot chests
1 Homak chest
1 Duplex chest
2 huge heavy (twins) "hip roof" chests of unknown origin
2 large platte / map cabinets
1 MAC side box and 1 SO side box (hangers)

Plethora of hand carry boxes from Bonney, Proto, SO, Cman, and unknown, etc...

Do display boards count since they technically "store tools?" :shocking:

11 Proto tool display boards
1 Proto "Flying Lady" rotating "Rotomat Toolmart" display
1 Indestro tool display board

Well why does a matching vintage box have to show up for sale? I committed to pick it up tomorrow. Lol this also makes it easier for me to make my rolling workbench with 2 same height boxes. I have to get my bandsaw moved from its wooden stand to the tan crowntop box I have to make room.

LOL! I'm doing the same right now with mine! Getting a dent out of my one that was "hit by a caddy in the 70's" before painting it red to match my other one.

I'm not going to get this buy look what just popped up on CL for $200. If it was listed closer to $100 you know I'd be driving to go get it.

Picked these up at an estate sale. The Kennedy a little beat up but the Remline has never been used. Still had the keys and divider parts taped inside a drawer.

If the condition in person is as good as it appears in pics, that is very fair.

Agreed. What can you buy new for that amount? Nothing as nice as those.

I'm not a big fan of the lock on the very bottom of the roller, but I wouldn't call this guy and offer $150 if I wasn't serious about buying them, because he might say yes.

I emailed him asking how flexible he is on price because like you said, I don't want to make an offer and he accepts it if I don't really want to buy it.

Like others said if it looks as good as the pictures do in person it's not a bad price if it was for about 150 it would be in my truck already. I only collect that era boxes and trust me there are becoming harder and harder to find. If you like that era of boxes then I would grab them every time you see them on craigslist
